I could lie and said it's a hybrid Highlander, but I can't afford a new car. It's a 2003 and gets about 21 mpg.

There is no such a thing as a hybrid vehicle -- within our budget -- that could carry camping supplies, do light off roading, transport our bikes and tow a small trailer. We actually need 4 wheel drive, and cargo and towing capacity, unlike whole cities of people who never intend to tote anything more than their friends, or a couple of kids and groceries in their 11 MPG H3s, Cadillac Escalades and Chevy Explorers.

We replaced our furnace this year, which may have cut our oil consumption by nearly 50%. We keep the thermostat at 60, practice water conservation and recycle anything we can and have done so since long before the community picked it up.

Our relationship with Gaia is copacetic.

Light off roading? I'm shocked (seriously) that you'd do something like that. Producing CO2 to haul a load of supplies to starving orphans makes sense. But making CO2 simply for entertainment seems pretty non Earth-friendly.

No, no, no, no ... I keep forgetting other people don't share my experiences. When I'm talking off-roading, I mean, there IS NO PAVED ROAD to get from point A to point B, not joy riding like a bat out of hell over hill and dale in an effort to get air time.

You've really never spent any time outside of a city, have you? I can take you to places where the roads are nothing but oiled dirt, try driving your Lexus (or whatever you drive) down that shit.

For that matter, try putting everything you would need in terms of food, water, clothing and equipment for two people for nine days in/on whatever you drive then hit a primitive campground.

Wha's a matter, Plunk, you ain't got Red to razz anymore so you're going to pick on the board's other out and about liberal? I don't need to justify my lifestyle, I'll gladly compare carbon footprints any day of the week :D

Ahhh... so you drive on unpaved roads to get back to nature? What's the point of communing with nature if you're going to use an environment-destroying vehicle to get there?

That doesn't compute to me. Can't you hike it? It would be like me fixing somebody's radius fracture by breaking their ulna so it's easy to get access.

And yes, I do miss redsam. I freely admit it. It's cruel to me for him to not stop by here from time-to-time and post something stupid. He made a cameo appearance last night and I was practically giddy.

As far as carbon footprints, I'm sure I'm much worse than you at the individual level. But then again, I'm one of those mean-spirited conservative evil corporate types -- what else would you expect? But here's a little tidbit for you: We pioneered the use of thin-walled injection molded medical devices for the last 25 years. To us, it was great $$$ because reduced plastic equaled reduced part cost -> higher profit. We've probably removed at least a few dozen of millions of pounds of plastic from the waste stream (I'll check the number). Does that make me a better environmentalist than you?

Yes, it uses a massive amount of three-phase 220V power. And to make matters worse, it requires a 125 psi screw compressor that's electrically powered as well. My 3D printer hasn't been powered down more than 5 mins since I bought it either.

Do I do a good job shutting the machine down? Nope. Not at all. The machine goes into standby mode after 30 minutes though, so at least the servo drives aren't sucking-up power 24/7.

But I'm still a better environmentalist than MM. Muahahaah! I win teh interwebs!

I get an offer in Jan or Feb. I am going to demand more than they can pay so I know I will be out of a job. My position here has been officially eliminated.

I have no idea when I will drop the bomb. I'll see where my job takes me.

okay so he really doesn't look that much older - hopefully I'll get some pictures of he and I together and I won't feel all creepy and weird posting up his pictures.

I've seen his drivers' license I've met both his brothers and his parents.... Maybe it's because he used to be 70+ lbs heavier. I think he's actually kind of skinny but he definitely has some body dysmorphic disorder going on.

That's probably the reason. The skin will retract, given time, so he'll probably look more youthful. Probably isn't a great idea to post up his pics without his okay.
 
I can see how some guys would not want their pics posted on the net but I would be flattered.

My best friend in law school liked dressing up in really revealing clothing and she was gorgeous. Her hubby was a tight ass that didn't like it because other men would look at her. I told her that I would find it attractive. To each their own.

Im looking at it compared to where she was earlier this year, just having flown across cuntry to meet a random internet dude and get ignored for a different internet chick (myway) and then suffer the indignity of a pissed bed. Compared to that this is surely some form of salvation.

LOL its not like my parents taught me to give blow jobs or told me to do it over sex. I just figured it was a safer way not to get knocked up. I had a cousin 1 year older then me get knocked up at 17 so that reality check aid in me waiting longer.

My mom was actually very liberal when it came to sex. I was lucky I could go to her and ask her anything and she never freaked or got preachy with me.

I guess I'm the only one that does not think he looks old. :confused: He has a couple worry/frown lines, but the lines around his eyes just show he smiles often.
