How many of you have a pet that lives inside your home?

I love animals as well and I agree on certain animals being for food and other's for companions.

It's like tigers. Beautiful, deadly, powerful animals that should be respected. They are not "meant" to be companions. They aren't necessary to eat either and should not be hunted for that purpose etc.

Cows on the other hand. They are an excellent source of food and are not predators nor are they viable companions per se. That doesn't mean I don't think they are worthy of living, but that there are many viable reasons for eating this animal.

Using the intelligence of a specific animal is also a good point. Animals that tend to be mass consumed generally have a much lower intelligence level and may not even fully understand the concept of self preservation outside of an ingrained genetic response to life and death.

Can you tell when a fish is afraid? Cows can be afraid, but it's still questionable how much they actually comprehend.

Pretty much no one that has lived around dogs and cats has trouble discerning when these animals are feeling fear or displaying affection.

That said I live with 2 cats. If I had the space for a dog I would have a pitbull or maybe a legit wolf-mix, but for loving companions that require absolutely minimal maintenance cats are unbeatable imo.

Cats haven't forgotten their ancient egyptian roots. Each cat knows it's place among other cat's, but among humans they are equal to any of us in their minds LOL.

We have a half Australian Shepard-half Corgi. She's about four years old and incredibly smart. He understands more words than any other dog I've ever seen.

I Love Animals ( birds specifically)

They need alot more Love then most people are willing to give.
It important for a responsible human to not just buy one arbitrarily and then throw it away or worst not care for it.
Every Life matters.

What type of birds do you have.?

I had a lab and border collie mix, both lived inside and drove me nuts. The lab lost control of his lower back and bowel movement a year before he died and the border collie had dementia, I didn't sleep for a year because of that dog. My wife is the crazy dog lady and didn't put them down until the last minute. We have one cat now. I'll be happy when that beast is gone too.

I used to love pets but there are limits.

lol at the lost bowels and dementia. ololol
