because it's proven that many mosques in america have radicals who come in and preach hatred for americans and recruit young impressionable ones into their organizations. And the others in the mosque, just look the other way.

While it's true that not all Muslims are terrorists, and in fact I have friends who are Muslims, there hasn't been enough of an outrage by good Muslims in the USA to satisfy me that they really do consider the terrorists as not part of their group. Building a mosque there, is too "in-your-face" this soon after 9-11. If the good Muslims in the USA wish to change their public profile, they need to denounce the wrongdoings of the fundamentalist/extremist Muslims FIRST, and build a good rep on their own beliefs. This is almost as inappropriate as having a statue of Hitler on the grounds on a synagogue, pointing out that he was good to his girlfriend and he fed and cared for his dog. Jewish people wouldn't buy German cars for decades after the Holocaust. Should VW have put dealerships in all the Jewish neighborhoods to "help the Jewish people get over the Holocaust quicker", in 1946? I was going to say that myself... I don't have any of those things. Never owned a game console, and never owned a plasma TV. I don't want any. Especially the plasma TV. Why anyone would want a TV that has an inferior picture in my opinion, and uses 4x the power of of a tube set, and belches out more heat than your furnace, is beyond me. I'm a man; not a soccer mom, so I don't need an SUV; I have trucks. I don't have time to play video games, because if I'm not working, or working out, I'm riding motorcycles or playing with other toys... Traz, you're a good dude with a good heart. I too think it's wrong for people that do not subscribe to a particular religion to disrespect the faith of those that do believe. Conversely, I think it is equally wrong for "believers" to attempt to force their convictions on others.

That being said, it seems to me that you voice a lot of anti American sentiment. I'm fully aware that the U.S. has made many mistakes throughout our history. But, frankly I feel a little resentment when I hear a non-citizen speak negatively of my country.

I have no negative sentiments conscerning the US bro....on the contrary, I have friends and relatives in the US. I just came back from Detroit over the weekend and I was down in Cali 2 weeks ago. I got nothing against anyone bro, I've never judged a "country" period. I may have something againt a country governing body, but I love Americans...they're cool as fuck and chill. I grew up with Americans all my life...had few "local" friends growing up in Lebanon.

So rest assured I hate no one nor do I have negative sentiments against anyone. I generally love everybody and respect everyone. That is the truth.

i have muslim friends because i work in the financial industry and them and jews make up the business in my area. 90% of them do not try to convert me and are moderates. there is one dude who tries to convert me and who got caught up in the bs (he was going through a bad time and i guess he fell for the scam hook, line and sinker), but he is a major outcast with other muslims in our group now and doesn't get invited out ever. in fact i asked at the last outing why he wasn't invited and was told "we dont want him to embarass us" so you are wrong on the first point.

your 2nd point is incorrect also, even the extremist muslims dont believe in that. only if you WERE a muslim and left the religion should you be hurt/killed/etc.. i guarantee you if you were to get caught in pakistan by a terrorist group and told them you were converting to islam they wouldn't cut you a break. the key here is being BORN a muslim and then converting, being a christian then converting does not buy you brownie points.

for reference i was a christian/catholic growing up, even went to church etc. but now christians absolutely despise me for being an atheist and I could not give a rats ass. i've been called devil worshipper etc. i think to them its way worse to be a christian then become an atheist then to be an atheist from birth. so both islam and christianity are very similar in that respect

Isolated high level politicians aside, the rank and file American conservatives are nowhere near the extreme social values of typical fundamental isamists in the middle east. If youve noticed, in America no one is calling for women to be stoned for walking around unescorted by a male, or being jailed for showing their ankles. I cant even believe I have to make those examples bro, its plain to see. You are most uninformed if you believe that they are the same because conservatives make up squarely half our nation yet women have managed to continually gain rights and progress, and if our entire nation is identical to fundamental islam that simply wouldt be possible.

we live in a progressive and secular nation. thats why the right wing muslims hate us. because we let women work, because we let women vote, because we allow women to not wear black from head to toe, because we have a wonderful thing called separation of church and state etc etc.
