Anavar low dose standalone guinea pig!!!

On Tuesday 3/2/10, I will begin a 75 day cycle of Anavar from a UG lab, in 10mg caps, at 20 mg/ed.

The purpose of this thread is to try to bring more clarity to the question that I, and many others have asked a million times. "What if I did a cycle of 20 mg of var as a standalone, while weighing 200 lbs. in my mid 20's, with no previous steroid experience?"

This question is a very important one, because such a cycle is often the most that the average steroid newbie is willing to try. There can be many reasons for this. I'll just explain my reasons for this cycle.

1. I still gain muscle quickly naturally while on a gain. I don't need a bulker.
2. I don't want to gain a lot more muscle, I just want to keep all of what I gained naturally while cutting and have a little fat burning and strength bonus.
3. Even if I wanted to get huge fast, I have a career that involves me being a role model. Suddenly packing on 20 lbs. of mass would be really obvious and could get me into some serious trouble.
4. I am a minimalist. I usually try to make the most with the least regarding anything. I try to find that point of diminishing returns. I wouldn't use any gear but I want to do some modeling while I'm still young.
5. I'm not doing more var because its expensive and I have a family.

Stats:

male, 26 year old, 15% bf, 203 lbs, 5'11", bench max 300 lbs., squat max 350 lbs.

I am a mesomorph leaning toward the ecto side. I have always been an athlete (mostly basketball). While on my last natural gain which ended 2/23/10, I went from 170 lbs. at 7% to 208 lbs. at 16% (all weight and bf taken first thing in the morning after piss). I plan on hitting 5% bf by the end of the cycle on May 15th. Then I will use a low dose of nolva for pct for a couple weeks along with some milk thistle.

I am now at 202.8 lbs. at 15% bf. During my first five days of cutting I have lost 5 lbs. at 3000 calories per day and 200-250 grams of protein. I guess this includes some glycogen. I want to hit 5% while at 185 lbs. which would indicate that I had gained a little bit of muscle. If I end up heavier than that at 5% bf then I'll consider it a miracle. If I drop below 180 before hitting 5% then I will be disappointed.

I will try to update frequently regarding my:
-sleep
-appetite
-strength
-endurance
-weight
-body fat
-mood
-any sides

Thanks for the encouragement bros, we'll see what this experiment concludes, either that this cycle can be effective for some people at accomplishing modest goals... or that it isn't enough even for modest results. Only the next 75 days will tell!
 
In to follow your progress - I have been using Need2slin with same var and the results are sick. Check my before and afters. You should add need2slin, Good luck!

Day 1:

10mg at 7:30 am right before breakfast
10mg at 2:30 pm with protein shake
This morning I weighed 203 at 15.3% bf.

Felt funny today but I'm not sure if it was the var or just the crazy weather changes we've been having along with allergies. I took my first one so early I don't know if I would have felt weird either way. I was a little spacey today, and very tired early in the day. I didn't feel very hungry but no stomach sickness. My carefully prepared lunch slipped out of my hand onto the floor which jacked up my diet a bit. I blame it on my mental fog today. I took a short nap at work and that helped. I played full court basketball for 2 hours at 6pm. I feel better now. I dropped a lot of water weight playing basketball, which is normal for me. I usually lose 2-4 lbs. during 2 hours of ball. After b-ball I weighed 200 lbs. even. I expect to be back up to 202-203 by morning.

Tonight will be my first night with the var in my system and I assume if its gonna mess up my sleep it will do it early on because my body adjusts to stuff pretty well. I figure if there are any mild sides they'll be gone in 2-3 days. I'm gonna lift upper body on Thursday, and I'm really hoping to feel the legendary pump but it may be too early in the cycle to feel anything. I'm doing some cardio tomorrow.
 
The scale will lie to you due to the food your carrying,last nights steak stuff like that, the best way to guage progress is to take pictures at the same pose/same lighting in the same room so you can have a better comparison.

Expect the sex drive to slip just a tad and the appetite also.

I got some proviron for cheap when I got the var. I'm not sure if or how exactly I should add this in. I know that if my libido falls I can take it but should I add it in for the whole ride... or maybe a week or two before the photo shoot at the end of the var cycle? I've got about 80 25mg caps. They were cheap so I figured what the hell, but after all of my research I'm still not sure exactly how to add this to a var cycle since most people add proviron to test or deca type cycles. My guess is that it may help fat loss at a low dose and help with any libido loss I experience. Baldness doesn't really run in my family but I'm still a little worried about that. Would 25mg have an effect on hair if my mom's Dad died at 83 with a head o hair, and my Dad has almost his full head of hair at 56 (its thinning a bit)?

Any proviron tips are welcome!
 
my second cycle ever was a var only cycle at 30mg a day. i was mid 20's and had no libido problems. really good for cutting and very mild effects.

Yes, my diet is totally in check. Zero alcohol or cheat meals.

You had a plan. Stick to it. It'll work.

Just get some POST CYCLE and some Liv 52 for liver support.

An all supp PCT should be fine at that dosage. HCGenerate, UNLEASHED and Sustain should do it.
 
Day 2:

10mg 7:30am; 10mg 2:30pm

Slept great last night. If the var caused the weird feeling yesterday, I think my body has adjusted. Today I felt normal. I did some cardio. I have had normal hunger today. I'm eating a ton of lean chicken, veggies, and a little rice, olive oil, fish oil, flax oil, water, and shakes.

Tomorrow will be my first day of lifting on the var. I'm hoping to have a little better energy for my workout and maybe an extended pump, but I'm not betting on anything this early.
 
I gained 16lbs on 30mg/ed. It was my first cycle & I ate a bulking diet with it. Good strength gains can be seen with low dose var on a bulking diet. Not so much when cutting, but I think you will have favorable results.
 
Day 3:

Slept fine last night. Woke up at 202 lbs. 14.6%bf.
Same dosing schedule today. I felt fine today and lifted upper body at 5pm.

I lifted opposite motion supersets with about 3-5 min between supersets.
-Incline to diagonal lat pull
-Decline to seated row leaning back
-military to lat pull
-dips to shrugs with a little bicep action in it
-bench to seated row with back straighter
I followed this up with tricep ropes, bicep curls, and pec flys.
Afterwards I felt great. My pump was solid but not unusual and my muscles felt a little bit harder than usual. My biceps felt about like my granite countertops! :cool:
 
Day 6:

My weight has started trending back up a little bit, but my body fat is going down. I think that I've started to put a lot of water in my muscles with the creatine I'm taking with the var. I lifted upper body today and felt like a million bucks! My strength went up some, but it may just be that my lifting intensity was up because I felt very positive. My pump was ridiculous, and I'm definitely leaning out some, but that's expected as I'm on a cutting diet. I'm gonna try to take in less sodium and drink more water to try to lower my water retention outside of my muscles. I'm gonna try to post some progress pics later in the week. I'm not quite sure how though. Anybody know how to post a progress pic directly to the thread or is that even possible?
 
Day 16: Still at 20 mg/ed. I am leaning out quite nicely and I seem to be gaining a little strength at the same time. Current weight: 198 lbs. My pumps are great. My sleep is normal except for last night when I had a fever. All better now. Lifting upper tomorrow.
 
Day 18:

I'm a bit confused by my results so far but not disappointed. I got sick the other night and had a fever, upset stomach, etc. I haven't lost any weight despite my calorie deficit being even more severe while feeling bad.

Going into this cutting cycle, I was planning on operating the same as I would without the var. I expected the var to just give me a boost in gym energy, maintain my muscle, and accelerate my fat loss a bit. Honestly, I haven't been counting calories, because I've never had to count calories until I drop below 10%. Until then, my fat has always fallen off steadily. Since starting my cycle I have upped my cardio from none to full court basketball once or twice a week and HIT 2-3x per week. I estimate my calorie count to be at about 2500/day with my carbs high with breakfast, moderate with lunch, and slim to none with dinner. My protein is high, lots of veggies, fish oil, flax oil, lots of water, creatine, casein before bead, complex+whey before and after lifting. My scale weight has been dropping slower than I expected, considering that six months ago I was 30 lbs. lighter. I use a hand-held body fat monitor and it hasn't been dropping, still above 14% every morning. However, my muscles are more cut and my torso looks leaner than it did a week ago. My strength is up in several lifts.

My conclusion is that my bf monitor is whack, and I'm gaining muscle and losing fat, both at a slow rate, despite my low calorie diet. If that's the case, I'm pleased, but I need to boost the fat loss to hit my goal on time. I'm affraid to drop my calories lower than 2500 though, considering that I weigh 200lbs.

The verdict is that I have been eating too many calories, mostly in the form of good fats, but calories all the same. I'm lowering my calories to 2300 and counting. I suspect that I was at more like 2800 before and going down very slowly, so at 2300 I expect to drop at a decent pace. If not, I'll drop down to 2000. I need to catch up by a week, because I needed to be at 13% by today, and I'm at 14%. Guess I'll tie myself to the car and have my wife drive around!:cool:

Hah! funny visual. Sounds like you have the mindset. Everything works a little differently for everybody and you just need to make adjustments as you go.... Keep on killin it.
 
Day 37:

I have upped my cardio to 14 min. HIIT at 6am before work and my usual lifting or cardio routine after work. I'm a teacher, so my job isn't very physically demanding other than mental energy.

My weight is going down slowly, but I look like I'm leaning out a lot! My body fat monitor isn't reflecting the body fat level that I think I'm at. I think it's overshooting me by about 2%, which would put me at about 11%. We'll see how I look in mid May. Ultimately that's all that matters.

One thing I've noticed is that it seems like my libido is down now. A couple weeks ago I wasn't worried at all, but now I find myself sexually indifferent. I've been taking 25mg proviron in the morning with my first 10mg of var. I'm thinking about upping the proviron to 50mg, but I'm not sure if I have enough for that. I've got plenty of nolva coming in this weekend for pct. I'm wondering if I should bridge the nolva in for the last couple weeks of var and then up the dose afterwards. Any tips?

Okay, so what's the deal with the need2slin? I've read a little bit about it now, but I had never even heard of it until this thread. What's the science behind it... and what kind of research backs up it's claims?
 
A change of pace

Overall, I've been maintaining if not gaining muscle very effectively on this var cutting cycle, but I haven't been totally satisfied with my fat loss despite my diet. I also haven't had alcohol since January 10th, which is the longest I've gone since I was about 16. Another interesting thing I've noticed is my heart rate. My resting heart rate is the lowest it has been in my life. Last night, a few hours after working out, it was 51!

This past week I ran into a barrier... my own stupidity!

I got frustrated that the bf monitor wasn't registering any progress, and started doing an absurd amount of cardio. I knew that what I did was stupid, but like an alcoholic, I'm confessing my stupidity. This past week I started getting up at 5:45am and doing HIIT before work, and then doing my normal cardio/lifting/basketball after work. Needless to say, by Friday I was burned out. I'm not sure why I went on this cardio rampage (because I'm not a newbie and knew it was stupid) but I just hit that point where I thought I saw light at the end of the tunnel and just took off running. Now it's Sunday and I took in about 3500 calories today, all complex carbs, good fats and protein. I'm going to start carb cycling as such:

Sun/Thurs lots of good carbs up to maintenance level because on this day I lift upper body. The other days I'm going to actually drop my calorie count and go low or no carbs (except veggies). I'm gonna moderate my cardio down some as well. I'm going to add some pseudoephedrine b/c I don't want to track down the real stuff and the pseudoephedrine is a decent appetite suppressant.

P.S. does anybody think I should add aspirin to the pseudoeph. along with the caffeine I already take in... I know this isn't a real ECA stack, so any thoughts here, and by the way, I simply don't have the budget for any more supps right now.

No, you don;t need to add anymore shit. You need to stop eating. That's the problem. Too many calories.

However, if you wanna cut and efficiently use the little amount of crabs that you should be putting in, add need2slin. You'll love the results.
 
What about the dosing when it comes to Var? Not amount, but I mean how often should one take it? Halflife at 8h I think, so every 8 hours maybe? And should you take it before bed so you sustain effects during sleep as well? Or is it only Testo that needs to be kept on an "even" level 24/7?

30mg/ed split on wakeup,+8h,before bed, or is once with breakfest and then redose after 8h enough? Have 10mg tabs so will split it in 2 or 3 doses a day, just unsure about taking before bed is positive or not...?

1/2 life is 8 hours, so if you can take it every 8 then great. Some people have sleep issues with var but I haven't had any problem sleeping... my last dose is about 2pm. Taking before bed is fine and probably good if it doesn't hurt your sleep. If it does then just take more earlier in the day. At a low dose like you're considering, you probably wont have many if any side effect unless you're prone to stomach issues or sleep problems.
 
Day 59:

So far I have scrapped the low carb route, the balanced low calorie route, and the carb cycling route. I now conclude that my calorie count was too low. I feel like crap on low carb and my calories were so low that I think I was going into starvation mode. Since then I have upped my calories to about 3000/day focusing on low gi carbs. Furthermore, I have scrapped my inbetween meal shakes and gone to four meals per day and bedtime casein. I am taking in about 800 cal breakfast, 800 lunch, and another 1200 split between pre and post workout. The result???

I am losing fat (but slowly) AND my strength is up, I am developing vascularity that I've never had before, even at lower body fat, and I feel great!!! Now, before you go thinking that I've just lifting and sitting around on 3000 cal while trying to cut consider that I'm taking in about a gram of caffeine per day in the form of pills and green tea extract, I take fish oil with every meal and flax seed oil with lunch, and I don't have cheat meals. I never drink regular sugar drinks (or even juice). I haven't had alcohol since January AND...

I'm doing HIIT 2-3 times a week to failure on my intensity intervals, steady state about twice a week, basketball once a week, upper body lifting twice a week in the 6-12 rep range to failure, and lower body lifting once per week. I workout seven days a week and twice a day on the weekends. At 3000 calories a day and 26 years old my body is holding up nicely. If I were doing all this on 2000 calories a day (which I tried for a couple weeks) I would feel like crap all the time and want to give it up. I'm at about 8% bf right now.

I've dropped 3 pounds in the last week at 2700 calories/day. I started at 208 lbs. waking weight, and I'm awoke this morning at 184.8 lbs. I'm at about 7-8% bf right now. I've used a descending calorie count of about 800-700-600-500-100 (casein at bedtime). I have no cheat meals and no unplanned snacks. I don't drink any alcohol or sugar drinks. My diet is low glycemic (firmly cooked wheat pasta and undercooked rice, multi-grain breads, some fruit. If I had to guess, I would say I'm at about 45% carbs, 40% protein, 15% fat (maybe 2-5% saturated). My body is responding best to low glycemic low fat.

Mon-HIIT
Tues-HIIT
Wed-HIIT+abs
Thurs-Upper+cardio burst at the end
Friday-Lower+cardio burst at the end
Saturday-Full court basketball+abs
Sunday-Upper+cardio burst at the end

I'm currently taking time release pseudoephedrine, 1 gram of caffeine spread out till 4pm, green tea extract, fish oil, var, proviron. 8 more days of var, and then I've got Nolva.
