It would appear I suck at video games

Got myself a PS3 today when I got my TV. (gift card for production at work made the PS3 a wash puds and bill. you assholes) So I bought Modern Warfare 2 and I keep dying. I haven't played video games for 5 years to be honest, and my friend kept giving me shit for not being some stupid nerdvirgin ninja with the controller. I do have to say I'm impressed with video games now. I may become fat and antisocial like puddlemonkey and 75th and play some more of these things.

I did the same last year, was on a video game drought since dreamcast (99?)bought a PS3 bundle off craigslist, 10 games, couldn't get into any of em. I use to love video games to but I just didn't get the same thrill as I did. Just rather throw the headphones on and run in my freetime nowadays, wouldn't even consider that pre-05. Complete flip flop of eras

That's it for me too. I just heard all of these people raving about these games and I said fuggit. It has a blu_ray, so if I don't end up becoming a fat hermit like puds and master the games, at least I have that. It's cool and all, but I can only get lit up by these sand ngrs so many times before the comtroller ends up embedded in the wall.

i grew out of games unfortunately... me and my nephew rock the wii and its good enough for us (he's 4)

i found my first gen nintendo and plugged it and and had flash backs haha freaking AWESOME!!! i played contra and my thumbs went to work and put in the cheat code before i even had the chance to think. now that was fucking strange!

wanna have fun with video games today?

start playing that shit online. It'll be almost as addicting as warcraft. I play halo 3 regulary - back in the day, I rarely ventured outside and leave my counterstrike on xbox live.

wtf :(

what games did you used to like

Mostly driving games, shooting games, and Tiger Woods Golf. I was never good at the fighting ones. My brother would have me dead in seconds when we'd play Mortal Combat. If I'd actually win he'd be livid because I was just pushing buttons randomly.

Put it on easy diff lol. It takes some getting used to aiming with sticks but regardless of what PC fanboys tell you practice makes perfect. You'll never have the speed/precision of a mouse but sometimes games look and play more natural-like without the twitch factor. Hell I was playing Killzone 2 multiplayer yesterday and over a third of my kills were from headshots, and I'm not that good at all to be honest.
Oh and check out Uncharted 2 it's supposed to be the high point of games this year.

No shit. With all the stat tracking and competitiveness it changes the game completely to something more dynamic.

And I can't agree on the growing out of games thing anymore either lol. I did for a while at school but the way games are getting it's almost like saying you've grown out of movies. But the difference there is interactive is always more fun than passive.
I just read the average age of a gamer now is 31. I'm not even there yet wtf.

I suck at gaming too, that´s why I mostly play RPG games, you cant go wrong there... and there´s always walkthroughs xD, I LOVE the new games, assasins creed, farcry, F.E.A.R, COD, Ive tried playing them but die too soon, by the time I aim and am about to shoot im dead.... as I told my gaming customers... "Sir, if I sucked at duck hunt I suck at shoot´em ups":(

I got tired of getting my ass kicked by my two sons (12&19) at Madden and took that shit to the yard for some real football. Now them lil bastards have felt my pain. After some bloody noses and loose teeth, they are not so fast to talk shit to the ole man.

thats one of my favorites. i push buttons most of the time too, but i usually always win!(i do know alot of the combo moves though, and when to use em!)

and sonic on Nintendo 64. it took me 6 months to pass the whole game.

the best, however is Mario one the on of those old Nintendo. classic! y'all remember this. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_eVeCCfKv8...AABcs/0K18Id7hECw/s400/a121++nintendo+nes.jpg

i've been in video game crackhead mode. cheaper/healthier than going out a bunch and the games now are so ridiculously good.

problem is i have a bunch of games i haven't even played yet. since i only got my ps3 a few months ago (when it went on sale) i haven't played alot of the classics and i've found them really cheap. when i start playing a game i usually play it till i beta it and get all the secrets.

i agree about it hard to grow out of games.i just think that sometimes priorities make it a less appealing/or too time consuming option.

for a good while i didn't have any next gen game system (probably 3-4 years). the last system i had owned was a nintendo gamecube. the only games i would play were madden on ps2 against my friends.

then i bought a xbox 360 last year (and sold it a few months after due to $$ problems) .

didn't have anything till i got the ps3 again. Now that i have the ps3, i can easily get sucked in if i'm feeling lazy or stressed because these games are so engaging. So basically my love/addiction of games never changed, just my priorities in life shifted.

the thing that impresses me most about video games is unlike other entertainment (Music,tv, movies) the overall quality has gone up considerably recently. Sometimes when things change they often shy away from the core components that made things good to begin with. There seems to be alot more crappy movies overall(but certainly alot of good ones) and music, i'm not even going to get into. But gaming has completely envolved to the point where all your favorite things are still there but just with so much more to offer graphically, story wise etc.

i still play mario kart 64 at least an hour a week :D

best way ever to pass time if you're waiting on somebody or have to kill 10-15 min

I used to kick ass at the tekken games. And by "kick ass" I mean "mash buttons furiously and with zero stretegy and somehow usually win, much to the massive frustration of my boyfriend at the time." First person shooters were a little less frantic and I actually bothered to learn the controls. It's been a while though. I gave all my game systems away in the last few years.

True gamers are PC gamers...in particular strategy gamers and not the geigh ass rts clickfest strategy games.

I kinda pride myself on not being a true gamer. My skin has color, my ass is boil free, and I don't own any t-shirts that have some trekkie joke written in code on the front of them.

I thought rts is hardcore, being real-time n all. What type of strategy are you talkin about, turn-based? :heks:

I was referring to click fest rts garbage like Command and Conquer. I grew up on turn based, like master of Orion and Heroes of Might and Magic, but the Hearts of Iron and the Medieval Total War series are real strategy games even though they have a "real time" element.

Ok I understand.

world of warcraft has ruined a couple of my friends lives.. they fucking play that thing for 10 hours a night after working all day... fucking crazy

I have a friend that has nearly a year of playing time logged. Not he's been playing the game off and on for a year, but a YEAR of actual playing. A year of his life, gone, for a game. Oh, but in his defense he's part of one of the top 3 guilds

we must know the same guy... this guy is in the top guild in his server... I've never played the game but know a lot about it because everytime I go over there he is on it

His logged play wasn't quite a year but was like 300 days and his defense is "i usually just leave my guy online" ... it's amazing how addicting these games are

I don't really have the personality to get addicted to that stuff as I usually get bored quicker than addicted

but I have had my share of addictions

Pls tell me you're joking.

dude there are THOUSANDS of people that have played this game none stop.. I never understood it until I went to my friends house one night and he was on a microphone talking to all of his guild friends and they all sounded like grown men, or at least adults...

ever seen zombieland? he was playing world of warcraft at the beginning drinking that mountain dew with no hands.. laughed so hard cuz it was exactly like my buddy

for mid 40's, yes actually. he did rather well, even if she is 7 years older than him.

first I thought your "friend" was you but then i saw he was married and I know you can't get girls so eliminated you..

jnggr i'm in the same boat.
gonna buy a ps3 but i suck and generally hate video games.
pretty much just buying it for dvd aspect, proly a waste of money

The games are fun and cool, but my gaming dexterity is dogshit. My friend came over last night and just stormed through mwf2 on a hard level. I'm getting my ass handed to me on the easiest level.

Modern warfare 2 seems to be harder, I remember that last one it felt like the match making was alot more accurate...by that I mean the game would match players of equal skill level and it felt like you had a chance against these guys.

I am fairly good at MW 1 and when I got MW2 I was getting my ass handed to me at 1st..much harder than the 1st.

get uncharted 2 you ngr

you'd be good at little big planet (a 5 year old can be good at that game)

I suppose no worse than a year of alcohol/drug abuse lol. And think of how much money he could get for his stats on eBay!

You can use a bluetooth keyboard/mouse with it and surf EF, that right there should be worth the cost lol. It might even accept the ghetto usb connectors too. For real though if you have an HD TV it's good for watching movies with the womenz (or Bokas).

I bet a few people here could pwn me online, I'm pretty noobish in all that but it is pretty entertaining.

lol at you saying rts's aren't hardcore.

your right, the most competitive video game of all time, starcraft, is not hardcore at all. They dont play 10 hours a day to practice and make 6 figure salaries.

You have MW2 on PS3? I rented it last night, playing through the campaign now but might take it online this weekend.
