At the fact they don't dominate MMA? Not to say that there ain't "great" black fighters in MMA.....but it seeems that because they don't dominate there like they do in boxing that they don't consider it "real fighting". i never really thought of MMA as supposed to be dominated by a certain race. Japs are pretty damn good fighters but not good athletes anywhere else. Brazilians are really good MMA fighters also. MMA seems to have a bigger global reach than anything else except maybe soccer, so I never really tought of any one race supposed to dominate such as blaks in basketball or something.

well that's kind of my point, it's all encompassing but because black dudes aren't dominant they seem whiny and pissy about it. Maybe cause the glory days of ridiculous boxing payouts are gone, but from what I understand the "average" boxer still makes a good chunk more than the average MMA'er. So I don't know. I'm glad to see a sport where we can enjoy foreingners without this incessant american hubris associated with it. that theory is a little out there bor. The guys that Ive seen in MMA arent exactly upstanding citizens who write to their congressman or attend those tea parties that have been going on. most of them look straight up thug, and yes they are white.

i wouldn't categorize south american/latin blacks as regular blacks (like in the US)..

yes most of them were descended from slaves they brought to the country, but they've had the benefit of growing within the culture of their country. GIven that martial arts is very big in brazil, it's no surprise they excel in MMA because they're ahead of the curve.


The reason blacks don't dominate is because MMA is more technical and involves alot of different skill sets. Boxing is pretty straightforward and easier to pick up in comparison. Wrestling and martial arts have never been popular in black culture, whereas most blacks are raised on basketball and football since they're young.
The boxing/striking aspect sure...but MMA is alot more than just a "street fight".

besides, blacks in general honestly aren't very good at street fighting. i've seen some big ass negros get taken down by white/latin guys alot smaller. and i've fought black guys bigger than me and they really don't know what they're doing. they rather stab or shoot you

In oakland they do, trust me on that one. Not sure if I agree that MMA is "more" technical than boxing.....I think both are equally technical just that boxing is more one dimensional. The fact that wrestling isn't too popular with blacks probably has something to do with it as most really good MMA'ers have at least some decent wrestling background. But MMA requires even more strength and speed than boxing does....or at least a decent combination of both. Lesnar is a human freak with that, a monster who can shoot with the speed of a 170 lb'er. That's where the sport is heading.

I agree. In my mind MMA is the holy grail of combat sports....gives you everything. Why would a warrior sneer derisively at something that's as close to pure combat that you're going to get in a still civilized society? I don't see the U.S having bare knuckle death fights any time soon where the president attends and gives the thumbs up or thumbs down gesture anytime soon.....so if you're a grown ass man and want to fight for a living, this is pretty much it. Why hate? If you're a great boxer, go learn yourself a great sprawl and knock some fools out.

Boxing has been losing fans since Tyson collapsed. MMA is taking fans away too.
