Dark blood on pin out?

OK, I'm a newb. I stuck my quad and aspirated and got clear bubbles. After injecting, I pulled the pin out and got dark blood.

I haven't stroked out yet, no tingling/numbness (from the chin up, maybe) or anything like that. I figure I might have done a through-and-through on a vessel of some sort. I'm no sissy, but dark (purple) blood gives me pause.

Again, all was good when I aspirated. Input?
 
Your good bro.Happened to me before ,as long as you saw nothing aspirating , you probably came through on your way out.

Had this happen a couple of times, I freaked out at first too! but its all good you prob just nicked or passed thru a blood vessel.

Most likely just knicked a vein or something,,,no worries.
 
You are good bro. I am a nurse it happens all the time. As long as your aspiration was air or clear, you most likely went through a superfical vein which is why the blood was dark.

I don't aspirate anymore! Aspiration is a myth! LOL When you go to a clinic or a hospital for a shot, does the nurse aspirate the injection? Hell NO! A 1,000mg/ml shot without any thing and I feel fine! I can't wait until next order! LOL

Exacto!!!! Arteries give bright red blood because they are heavily oxygenated. Dont sweat it cause its prob gonna happen again down the line.

Aspiration isn't a myth bro. You might get lucky and not catch an emboli from a water based but if you mess up with an oil base your in a world of trouble. I am telling you this as a paramedic, the nurses you see are opening up themselves to a huge law suit when the cause the first pulmonary air emboli. Every paramedic and nurse I know still aspirate even in situations when time isn't a given. Some of us have been doing it so long that we actually do aspirate with out making it as noticible. Bro it takes a second or two to aspirate to be safe and a life time to recover from a mistake, play it safe in an already dangerous game.

To the main topic of the thread like the nurse said you more than likely hit a vein and went through and through, while attempting to reach the muscle. As long as there is no red stuff in the container when you aspirate your okay.

What you guys mean when saying aspirate pls? It means when you slightly pull the plunger back once in, to check if a small rush of blood is in the syringe?
 
Thanks for the clarification. But this raised another point which it was not clear from the begining to me.
When injecting aas in the muscles (IM) these will be later slowly released and deposited in the blood, right? Why it would be a problem if you mistakenly inject in a vein and therefore they go directly in the blood?
 
There is a few reasons from concentration to substance viscosity. Your main concern is the actual viscosity of the substance that can cause everything from a stroke to myocardial infarction. You have to remember that a lot of these substances are very thick and and can potentially block some of the smaller arteries and veins in the body restricting blood flow or even completely blocking blood flow to muscles and organs just depending on what vessel is blocked.
 
It's scary to see Bros on here doing AAS and don't even know what aspirating is about. I'm stunned by the ignorance.

I agree aspirating isn't a myth.. Its essential.. especially when the person injecting isn't trained and he doesn't know where the main veins/arteries are.

I've must admit that aspirating is essential, yet, I find it quite unnecessary in my respect.

I've had my share of dark blood when pulling the needle out and 3 to 5 minute bleeds but they are very rare now. I bleed very little since I've become adept at injecting at any muscle site.
Although I find glutes are hard to do!

I learned something new!!!! I ran shoulder shots back in my early 20's and never asperated.. I agree it takes 2 seconds to save your own ass!! Pun intended for those glute shooters!!! Thanks and yes its not a joke I wonder why some act like its LOL, LOL, NOTHING TO LAUGH AT HERE!!! Not everyone knows it all... And not everyone admits to that!!!!

The guys that refer to the color of the blood as being related to the nature of the blood vessel carrying it are absolutely right. The molecule responsible for carrying oxygen through the blood is called hemoglobin, at the heart of hemoglobin in an atom of iron. It is the iron itself which binds the oxygen, in essence it gets oxidized and carries the oxygen as a form of iron oxide (a complex one) to the tissues where it is released. What color is iron oxide? Red....ish......rust. After dumping the O2 in the tissues the blood is carried away by venules which lead to veins which return to the heart. Unoxygenated blood is very dark purple and veins are located much closer to the skin than arteries and arterioles, you have a much better chance of nicking a vein you don't want to hit an artery. Injecting into an artery will be a terribly painful experience, or I should say, can be, depending on the drug. Your dark blood indicates no pathology at all and you did not use poor technique. The member that poopoo'd aspirating because nurses don't do it is not correct. Some drugs are quite welcome in the vascular system but prefer subcutaneous injection, in that case aspirating is not important but you do not want to inject an oily steroid compound into a vessel, water based drugs only. And make sure you are positioning the depot deep into the muscle, I recently drained an abscess at the er and recovered about 20ml of liquified tissue, puss and oil, that is a severe amount of necrosis and was the result of a huge depot and shallow injection.

I could give a shit if you aspirate that's your business. The point I'm making is it might seem unnecessary to some newb who doesn't know better and has a tendency to be as sloppy and lazy about injections as you seem to be may end up injuring or even dying because they think the rest of us are being over cautious. So you're damned right it does piss me off when people post irresponsible shit in a public forum like this. And if I were anywhere near Detroit douche bag I'd be more than happy to take you up on your offer.

LOL Guys, I have aspirated all my injections during 2005, a very effortless procedure, but one day out of blue I said, "I'm not going to aspirate this injection". This kind of information can get someone hurt, this is not a game guys. If you want to ask a question that is great and you will get a great response... Allot of new people will read this post and believe that they do not have to aspirate... (until they have tren in their lungs). THIS HAS HAPPEND TO ME, MY FREIND DID NOT APSPRAIT FOR ME. ...HE just forgot... I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT A LITTLE TREN COUGH, BURNING THROUGH MY WHOLE BODY INLUDING MY Gums’ thought this is it I really F***** UP.... Aspirate always and you will not have a problem............. Your doing a great job Needto.....................
 
A few years ago i injected into my quad and didnt aspirate and within 3 seconds i got severe chills and was sick like i had the flew for a week some reallu scary shit, since then i have never put a pin in my leg...Im sure if i aspirate id be fine but i cant get over it...id rather chew on aluminum foil
