Why is it with the I phone - it sucks

When you buy a Nokia or Motorolla or any kind of good phone you can view picture messages, forward messages or text messages in foreign languages but with the I-phone you need to download application after application to perform normal functions on the phone? Why does this stuff just not come as standard? It's beyond me!

Why can't the Iphone copy from sim card to phone memory and so on......

overall the Iphone is the worst phone I ever bought and I'm just glad I have my blackberry. I am going to buy a $25 phone now which I guarantee is more functional than the Iphone without the need to download 50 applications just to make it user-friendly...

It is a great product - more of a computer than just a phone. Get used to it first. I am sure you will go back to your Nokia and say.... why can't this do all the stuff the iPhone does?

I have had it for 6 mths and honestly the only thing I enjoy about it is games.

Why if I want to see a picture message or forward messages on to others I must download two seperate applications? Don't you think that's a bit silly mate? On 'normal' phones you can send messages, forward messages and view picture messages all on one application.

I never needed to download any apps to see photos in emails.
Have you clicked the attachment at the bottom of the email to see the photo, doc, pdf, ect?

They are not photos from an e-mail, they are photos that come in from text messages - MMSs :( I guess the 13+ yrs I have been using a Nokia just have me hooked.

I misunderstood

hmm I never did the photo text thing - but I've only recently started texting

iPhone = kids and "oh-wanna-look-cool" crowd

True.... Apple did a great job marketing it!

Deep down a lot of cost is from having the music option on there but seriously who uses the I phone to listen to music when in the gym or out on the go - an I Pod is about a tenth of the weight and an eighth of the size

I don't think that is necessarily true.

By me the "cool kids" have the Blackberry fetish because that's what their mommy and daddy have. (and by "kids" i mean 12-18 year old)

I don't understand why people have to bash phones based on manufacture, on model yes but not on manufacture. Different phones are better for different people doesn't make one phone better than another.

And if you're over 18 and you still worry about what is cool and not cool to own then you have bigger issues.

So if you own a phone and don't like it - get a new one, don't sit and bitch about it - get the one that's right for you.

What is funny is I had a discussion yesterday with someone and he asked my views on the Iphone - I said I hate it cause you can't do this or that and so on... He told me that you can and he showed me how..

Basically he showed me 7 page of downloaded applications which then enabled him to do the normal things you would do with a Nokia or other similar phone...

Made me hate it even more :)

So buy a Nokia and sell the iphone to someone else.

Problem solved.

My SO's brother's girlfriend has an iphone since it came out and she's never even hooked it up to itunes and only uses it for the phone, internet and camera and I couldn't figure out why she bought one.

I don't know if I would be able to sell it to someone I like :)

Got a work blackberry now so will just pick up a cheap nokia for use to make calls...

Why do you like the Iphone so much, what's so special about it in your eyes?

It satisfies my needs.

I use the phone, clock/alarm, ipod, internet, games, calculator and a few apps on a daily basis.
It's painfully easy to use, fits in hand how I like it, the rings are amusing to me, I like the touchscreen and typing, and I like that I can be listening to the ipod and receive calls or send them to vm with little effort. I like how the phone works for me and it's a source of amusement if I'm stuck waiting for someone. Because I like it for me doesn't mean I dislike other phones, it just means I prefer this one. Oddly enough I was going to buy a Blackberry not the iphone, it was an unplanned wth purchase and it worked out for me.
