What safegaurds are in place to keep mods from abusing their powers?

And as far as respect for mods.....why should they demand any more respect than any other person here, is it just because of their powers? If so than the respect is out of fear.

Is this so called respect commanded by the actual owners of ef?

Im not trying to stir anything up. I am being serious and would like to know.

As far as questipn 1 I will let a mod answer that one, but I will add in that there are "safe guards" in place.

Second question- Why mods should have respect....Well basically ask your self why you would have respect for the owner of this site. The mods work hard at keeping this site a clean site instead of a dumping ground, they deal with a load of shit daily that they do not get compensated for. They not only are the "bad guys" for making sure that the site stays the way that admin and owner want it, but they also help members daily, again without compensation. Do you respect a teachers aid in a classroom? It has nothing to do with fear. It has to do with the fact that all of the mods work hard to earn the respect that they should be given as it is a way for everyone to thank them and appreciate all of their hard work. They are the owners and admins assistants, they do deserve respect. No I am not stating this because my husband is a mod, I honestly can say in the years that I have been here I have respected the mods as I find they deserve it.

ANd as far as respect being commanded. I do not think that it is commanded. I think it is expected as most people now these days do expect respect. Don't you expect respect from people? I know that I do!
 
There's been a lot of wreckless mods here.

Everyone's got their own agendas to push. They're own sources to push because they get kickbacks. Well thats how it used to be in the past....remember Satchboogie.

Anyway, I dont notice it now. And if this post gets deleted I'm gonna raise hell.

Well here is one. What kind of person - mods or not - have any sympathy for the whining of an alter?

If you got something to say, or a complaint to make, then just come right out with it. As the saying goes, either shit or get off the pot.

I would respect a teacher in a class room but thats apples to oranges. A teacher isn't out on the playground involved in student shannaigans. If a mod wants that same respect they shouldn't be in the thick of the thread getting dirty than e-spanking someone when they get schooled.

There has to be a certain amount of respect between everyone here not just to a certain group.

It is afterall just a chat board and part of the fun is controversy. If it was all rainbows and ponies it wold be boring and I would go buy some rum with my 12 dollers.

I am getting a feel for who I can screw with and who I can't but it has nothing to do with thier powers on here. It has to do with whether or not they dish it out. If I screw with sombody I expect it back in full.

I am sensing that this is more on a personal level than a typical question.
In case you missed the new news there is an ombudsman (2 infact) if you have issues with mods you can take it up with the ombudspeople. I don't think that public displays of personal matters really does much good for this site other than make more shitty E drama...And if this is not personal please excuse me for getting that feeling.

First of all I am not an alter and with your misgiven powers you should be able to see that with the IPs and so on.

Second of all I did have something to say and I said it. It was my initial question and now I am learning from the responses and pms I am getting.

Third, I beleive what you really want to ask is if this in reference to the banning of pin and yes it is. I want to know that if I get in an argument with you that you can't ban me if it doesn't go your way. If that is the kind of place this is i will take my $11.95 and go play somewhere else.

Thanks to everybody who is pm ing me and the k messages. It's good to know that I'm not the only one worried about this.
 
No Angel it isn't personal, however the issue that sparked this is disapointing. I just really wanted to hear what the general population had to say. If this is to to heavy for everyday c&c I am sorry.

I am still new compared to just about everybody here and I am learning about how things go and if this sort of thing is the norm.
 
You might want to call the police and have them rush over to your house then. Cause someone is using your IP. Maybe you can turn it into a movie. When A Stranger Logs On. Sort of like a remake of When A Stranger Calls.

This is the kind of thing me and ortiz are for. Public threads get zero results. On the flip side, behind closed doors yesterday, miplanks temp ban got lifted after a day. I PMed with people for well over an hour today about this during the afternoon. Please...and this goes to whomever sent you messages as well...use me! lol

Isn't the "Politics & Relgion" forum a sub-forum of "Chat & Conversation"? Wasn't it explicitly created to get those specific types of threads out of chat?

Do multiple Ips show up? The deal is pin initially encouraged me to join and even talked me into the plat membership.

He has posted from my house but not in weeks.

90% of my posts will show an IP in deadhores, ak where I work. Pin has not been there for 7 years. also check the credit card info. different names and cc numbers. I have been here a month and this is the first i have heard about me being an alter. convenient......

You joined in 2008. Pin joined in 2006. Please explain how the hell those IPs would show up if he hasn't been there in 7 fucking years. Or even been a member here for 7 years to log them when he WAS there seven years ago. :rolleyes:

If you really think someone is this stupid and/or your only purpose is just to continue to stir up shit, just say so now. No need to dance around it.

And if Pin shows up at your house, just tell him his three days will be up on Sunday.

But since you are new here.... in the future, if you are not really that person in question, it would be very very wise to stay out of anything regarding two other people. Especially if one of them is the person you really aren't.

Where did I say anything about an ombudsman? What part of my answer was related to that? I specifically said it wasn't a part of Chat but a seperate entity. What part of that mentions ombudsman?

The only reason i referenced how long it's been since he has been there is because if i had said he has never been there (which he hasn't since he has been a member) somebody could look up his posts and see where he has made reference to working on the north slope. Then I would look like a liar. I didn't say anything relating his whereabouts to his membership.

Ef is a business. Somebody somwhere is making money. If people are affraid to post or say somthing wrong and that is the mentality here you could potentially lose business or scare away the lurkers who might join.

And when we do take time to do it, it is only out of simple curtesy. Not because we have to. It's because we choose to. That isn't to say you don't have a choice either. You do. You can choose to learn to live with it or you can choose to leave. Now we have given you an option to use to take issues you might feel like you need an answer to, up with the mods. Which completely eliminates the need for threads like this.

This issue is over. Pin was given three days for acting a fool on another forum. I don't want to hear any half ass arguments about what a "sub forum" it might have been. Spare me the stretching and reaching. The fact some behavior like that goes on here in Chat is only because we allow it to a certain extent. Not because it is your right. That behavior doesn't go visit other forums. And if the other forum doesn't say Chat & Conversation, well guess what? It isn't fucking Chat & Conversation.
