I don;t mean to start idle gossip or a controversy and I don;t give a rat's ass about professional bodybuilders. And I have no bodybuilding heros. I admire people who actually have actually contributed something and done something important.

BUT...

It seems that on 6 time Mr. Olympia Dorian Yates facebook page , he is a holocaust denier. He seems to think that extraterrestrial aliens walk among us. In other words, he's a delusional dipshit asshole wackjob.

What's also amazing is how on some message boards, some millennials treat this like they're talking about ancient history. The holocaust might as well be the Crusades to them. The fact that their father's grandfather could have been a victim does not resonant with any relevance. It just disrupts their video game time. The level of ignorance and apathy is astounding.

Anyway, I know this is off topic but it does say something about the world's perception of anabolic using bodybuilders when one of it's most famous spokesman is a flagrant racist loon.
 
His entitled to his own opinion,freedom of speech ,just because its about Jewish people its such a big deal.How come its not when people call all Muslims terrorists.I agree with him,dont think it happened either.The way the truth is being twisted today I think the holocaust never happened....sue me .

Yates is entitled to his own opinion, and so are you... However, you and Yates are both incorrect, historians have proved over and over again that the Holocaust indeed occurred. You brought-up an interesting point about it had to do with "Jewish" people is why it was/is a big deal. Stalin killed 31 million of his own countrymen during the same era as the Holocaust, and Hitler is deemed as the bigger prick because it had to do with "race." If I was Russian, I would think Stalin's purges were way worse than the Holocaust. Cultural perceptions are purely subjective...

I think to go back to the op, it just shows you that the average person doesn't know and doesn't care who Dorian Yates is. I don't think it will change much about the perception of bodybuilders in mainstream society. The oversized muscles and excessive roid use take care of the image.

Anyone who denies the Holocaust, needs to have some sense knocked into their head (figuratively or literally). I'll tell you there is NOTHING like sitting with a friend and listening to his account of it first-hand. I'm lucky enough to be just about the last generation of people who knew and talked with survivors, and it's sad that the next few years, there will be nobody left to give these accounts to younger people first-hand.

My friend Mike was 7 years old when the Nazis overran Czechoslovakia, and his father was taken. Mike, his mother, and his sister, were put on a train to Auschwitz, and Mike has no clue whatever happened to his dad. Mike and his mother got away from the train at a stop, and hid in a hay loft in Poland, and then ran the next morning and got picked up by someone who got them to safety. The only reason Mike and his mother were not retaken and killed on the spot, is that they were blond, and they were able to pretend they were non-Jewish Pols as they ran. Mike also told us that his mother explained that she told the guards on the train that Mike was NOT hers, and that he was not Jewish. She had him sit away from her, and told him to tell the Nazis all he knows is his name is Miki, and to deny that she was his mother. Imagine trying to tell a 7-year-old boy, whose father was violently taken away, that he must deny his mother to the police.... Jeeez!

I'll tell you it really hits you when an 80-year-old businessman breaks down and starts crying when he tells about it. Way more profound that any history book or movie. Yes, anyone is entitled to his/her opinions, but sometimes it's polite to keep those opinions to oneself.
