Ruined by Jay-Z music and Club music (Tiesto'ish) and Toby Maguire is forever stuck as Peter Parker. If it wasn't for my diet sprite with five mini bottles of Stoli added, this would have been a complete POS.

My wife however liked it.

I think it would have been better if they stuck with a less modernized version of the book. With three successful seasons of Boardwalk Empire in the books, I think the pre-prohibition, true-to-form mega-rich lavish party lifestyle would have been welcoming to watch. It was ruined by Jay-Z music and what looked like choreographed butler and party guest dance scenes.

Don't waste your money unless you are trying to please your woman and then suck it up and just get drunk in the theater.

Cool fucking story...
 
I dont want to catch teh gai seeing a flick with both leo and toby in it
 
Why would you even go see this? The director is the king of generic Mtv-styled pop music chick flicks.
 
I'm waiting for "The Poky Little Puppy - A Little Golden Book", the movie.
 
Shit, I wanted to see that.

Leo may be geigh but Tobey rocked in Ciderhouse Rules, Seabiscuit, and 3 Spiderman movies.
 
I gave it a 6.5.

Leo was made for the role of J Gatsby. Rest of the movie dragged a bit. Hard to turn a verbose novel like that into a visual.
 
Never understood the attraction to most of the "required reading" in school. The Great Gatsby was one of the most uninteresting pieces of shit I ever read. Catcher In The Rye is right up there too.
 
I read "Hello, my name is scrambled eggs" and wrote a report on it for junior year literature once. Probably the last time that teacher let anybody pick any book they wanted.
 
Jeez, I thought the rap and house music was just on the trailer to draw people to the theater, they played that crap on the film soundtrack? Way to take the audience out of the moment.

I think the biggest complaint I heard about the last one from the 1970s was the gratuitous tour of Gatsby's kitchen, which maybe wasted five seconds.

Oh well, wait another twenty years and someone else will re-make "The Great Gatsby" yet again.
 
I've always liked Leo as an actor and his roles so I was actually agreeable to seeing this mainly because he was in it. His performance was great, but that doesn't make it a great movie.
 
I highly dislike that actor, from Basketball Diaries to Titanic, Catch Me If You Can and all the way to Inception
 
I think Leo will be know as one of the iconic actors of our time. His acting keeps improving and he is not getting uglier. Who else could pull off roles like Howard Hughes and J Gastby. No homo.

He will be a Humphry Bogart, Jimmy Stewart, Paul Newman type of guy.

That's another thing, I find him 0% attractive, I highly disliked titanic with plump Kate Winslet and 14yr old body type DiCaprio, it seemed icky

That was because you knew the ending. Also, Kate Winslet looked better plump - just saying.
 
Kate wasn't plump in that movie. Her gowns here all a size four, I've seen one of the gowns she wore in the movie.
