I'm going to my local foods market and stealing produce today.

It doesn't matter, because I wouldn't have bought anything from there anyway. And other people steal even more than that, so there's nothing wrong with what I'm doing.

I'd like to read some Taibbi. For the next eight days, my free time will be soaked-up on this robotics competition. I'm supporting a local high school and we have to bag our robot in eight days. After (and some during) that, I'll do a little background reading.

"I didn't go to the market to buy anything in the first place, so they weren't going to get any cash from me irregardless. Plus, organic food is a scam anyway so stealing from scammers is actually a good thing. And besides, I only took a few dozen dollars worth and other people steal much more than that. Therefore, I did nothing wrong. I was just sampling the food and once I learned I didn't like it, it saved me from wasting a lot of money. I think I'll go to the market next weekend and steal another batch since there will be all-new items."

So not smart enough. I figured I was up against one of your critical thinking hard limits. You always go on about being the worlds smartest ngr, but you're really not that bright. With someone else this is where I'd say try again but we both know it ain't goin nowhere. In your mind the analogy is concrete, despite being "fatally" flawed. It's really not hard either.

I have no intention of paying money to go buy the book in the first place... Cause the good one's I then go pay money to read. I am taking friends this weekend to read War and Peace. This is the way I demo books. If it looks like something that is worthwhile to buy off the shelf i call up my buddies and say let's go.

Damn... it sounds stupid when applied to books as well.

Never mind.

That was my first thought when I read the initial post.

Intellectual property is an absolute mess but there is a big difference between outright theft and using other people's ideas to create a product with your labor and their idea.

First he tried to rationalize (using RedsamLogic (TM)) being a thief.

But then he used the same faulty logic to claim he's being unfairly treated since he was the only one called out.

This is great.

I guess it's unfair for us to put people in prison since other people sometimes get away with their crimes.

whatever you want to call watching 10 minutes of a movie, I simply don't care. I have no interest in sitting through 2 hours of a bootleg copy of a movie where you periodically see people getting up to use the shitter. It's awful. It's only value is in determining for me whether this movie is teh crap or not. It's not like you can buy a ticket at a theatre and 10 minutes after the movie starts walk back out and get your money back. Then buy a ticket for another movie and rinse repeat. You might get away with it once and that's it. So you can call my logic what you will I'm saving myself money and alot of time, alot.

You should know better. Under your oversimplified view, I could turn you into a criminal right now by embedding a few copyright-protected frames into a GIF and attaching it to this response.

The case law is much more complex than that. What is clear, however, is ganking a copyright-protected film online that isn't even available on PPV or DVD is clearly theft.
