Bodybuilders form

Alright guys I have been watching videos of bodybuilders for years for inspiration. I just noticed recently how horrible there form is. They jerk those weights like crazy. Also, I have always been told to go until failure... These guys quit when they have at least two or there good reps left. Can anyone tell me what's up with this..? These guys obviously know what they are doing...

Go on youtube and watch dorian yates full movies. Its like an hour and 2 min. Then you will see a no shit workout with perfect form and no jerking. Dudes a boss.

^ this, and it's often using very heavy weights that strict form won't allow. Bad form or not, it overloads the muscles and promotes growth.

Also most of these guys have created such an incredible mind muscle connection that they can contract their muscles very efficiently with that form, allowing them to use more weight.

eh the vidoes show off their pumps and vascularity.. its hardly how they actually workout.

I will do the same thing in front of the mirror at the gym just to look at myself because I am a vain fuck.

its like watching poker on tv.. they take 12 hours of tape and condense it into 40 minutes and people watch it and think thats the real thing... you can make someone look anyway you want with an editing machine

With enough drugs, form becomes optional

This is how I've always felt about it. When you hammer curl well over half your body weight with one arm... you are gonna rock a little. I tried cutting back to the lighter weight/high volume stuff before.... Was very mad at how much size and strength I lost. So... if I gotta rock it for a few weeks before I can lift it more comfortably.... so be it :-P Besides, I'm around 6'4"... Long ass arms suck.

There are different stages of training... a two rep set is in the power stage... you will not experience as much muscle growth in this stage but will increase power and explosiveness... hypertrophy is where you will experience the most muscle growth... 8-10 reps, 85% of your max... 4 sets... Of course, we all respond differently but I have trained thousands of people and the people that are training for a more hard and chiseled look always end up showing a lot more with more controlled movements that are form efficient with as much as they can push... You are at a higher risk of injury with jerky movements and you will not get as much growth in that way... Can you grow that way, yes you can but are they more effective ways, yes there are... Mixing in eccentric (negatives) in your routine is key to muscle growth as well... Concentric movements are the main movements, which are shortening of the muscle but eccentric movements elongate the muscle and allow for more growth... You are constantly tearing down muscle on shorter movements and shocking the muscle and lengthening it allow for more growth...

You are right, I didn't mean to sound like I am an advocate of bad form, but in some cases, particularly hammer curls, I don't feel like I have to body weight to hold perfect form until I ''break in'' to the heavier weight being used.

I am one of those guys who use very heavy weight with bad form, BUT i have that mmc, and can contract the muscle with heavy loads even when i cheat, i cheat on almost all bicep and back exercise and they are both my strongest and biggest bodypart. All the guys in my gym who use strict form are skinny noobs, not saying strict form is bad but its not optimal if you do it all the time, for me i use the combination of both, 80% is with heavy weight loose form and 20% strict form with higher reps.

You gotta find what works best for you, i know my body very well and i now what work for me.
