to make a documentary.

in life, you walk through roads that you have to cross, and walls you have to jump over....

i've spent the last two years honing my skills, and i'm finally confident in my craft to do something very big.

I fear that if i don't do this soon, and keep waiting and doing other peoples work over the years, i'll lose that burning desire in me. in my experience talking to people (27 up), their passion/dreams aren't the same at that age as it was when they were younger, and they lose touch of the drive/passion they once had.

i feel as if i stay stagnant now, i'll never make a profound impact as an artist and my voice won't be heard as it should.

Enter American Dreams....

A road movie we're filming. it's myself, another 23 year old filmmaker, our super-holy camerman (25), a musician, and a super artsy female friend of ours.

I've always been looking for an answer....
to what? i'm not sure.
i know i need to do some soul-searching out there and figure things out.

we plan on riding bikes (not motorcycles) to cali from florida, and filming the whole thing. we'll be staying with friends/couchsurfing along the way and getting a ton of timelapses. we're going to hit new orleans, houston, new mexico, arizona, las vegas, all the way to california, where i'll pitch a script i've been working on for four years to executives.

we look forward to the people we meet along the path and hearing their stories. maybe i'll be able to figure out if the american dream still exists today.... if you can make your dreams come true out of nothing with hard work, drive, passion, and desire....

my filmmaking buddy started a non-profit for diabetes since his father died of it, and was an avid cyclist beforehand. that's part of the reason he's going along.

this is by far the craziest thing i've ever done. i might have to sell my car and a few other things if we run into some rough patches, but i think we'll be okay. in two days, we've already had $5,000 donated to us, and we're currently working on getting redbull to sponsor us.

i guess i had the ambition to go for this after i witnessed that my buddy quickly reached his goal on kickstarter to make a documentary.

anyways, no one has EVER done a road movie on bicycles....

i look forward to the experience, and even if my script gets rejected dozens of times, i'll at least knew that i tried everything i could in my prime to make my dreams come true.

i'll cut it after we finish the trip, have my composer score it, and submit it to cannes just in time, and sundance a few months later.

In december, we'll have a kickstarter up, and if you guys believe in me too, back us. I promise you'll get a lot out of it in return....

bro sounds super ambitious i hope you succed.
watch out for the superdave sorts in the south, have you seen delieverance/easy rider?
ruffians.
is affeedz the super antsy female? she might be a good bargaining chip for the texan heehaws that will surely attempt to rape and massacare your bunghole

we're strapped bro (the musicians a rapper). we'll be okay. no ngrs are gonna jump me this time around.... (lol)

if any of you'd be down to host us, it'd be appreciative too. i have to get everything worked out this next month with our exec producer who's handling all the logistics, but i'd be down to meet any of you along the way.
can't promise you'll be in the film (we'll probably have 5 tb's to edit after), but there is a chance you'll made it in the final cut

bro i'm north of ca about 20 miles right off the 5.
proly off your route, but i'd let you crash here

Youre not gonna do shit.

Just kidding rob, sounds like a lot of fun and Im in Austin if you need some badass footage of a dude in a leather jacket on a motorcycle

Good Luck, Iggy!

Just a thought...why don't you start your Kickstarter campaign right now and use footage as you go for updates? You could offer BTS stuff as premiums, and use the awarded monies for final edit and stuff.

throw in a car chase and sex scene!

hehe, i sound like an exec now lol. Sounds neat. Esp if you do a kickstarter and get funds. Yeah keep us updated and of course, i'm in la!! Weee.

yeah but he has to do it now...because as we all know once you reach 27, life is pretty much over. If you haven't achieved your dreams and goals by then, you're fucked.

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later.

I'm in for the kickstarter, unless I start actually reading your posts and find out you're really are strongbow.

A lot has changed since Easy Rider. I've lived all over the west coast and now I live in TX. I also frequently travel from coast to coast.

I think you'll find a lot more hospitality in the south. Friends from the west coast will ask me about the south and my answer is this:

It's a lot better place to get a flat tire.

if he can get laid while riding a bicycle across the country with most of his belongings in a sack, I'll buy the documentary and bow to his greatness

Boomtown, a famous oil strike site, is in East Texas.

It appears fitguy has found a crude source as well..

meh, it takes forever to write out a budget for a documentary....
even after you talk to an accountant/lawyer.

anyways, ours is over $200,000.
hopefully we get some grants....

We can shoot it and make nothing until post for $30-$50k if we have to though.

site will be up within a week from now.

also thanks for all the support everybody.

once the site/kick starter gets up, remember, even giving us five bucks can make a big difference.

I promise the rewards for backing will be GREAT and fun too!

thanks!

don't crush his 23 year old dreams, rob. When he's 27 he won't have any dreams left (or even any life). Let him have this.

When you hit 27, you'll find out that at 23, you didn't know shit.

When you hit 37, you'll find out that at 27, you really didn't know shit.

At age 4 success is not peeing in your pants.
At age 12 success is having friends.
At age 16 success is having a drivers license.
At age 20 success is having sex.
At age 35 success is having money.
At age 50 success is having money.
At age 60 success is having sex.
At age 70 success is having a drivers license.
At age 75 success is having friends.

Eagles fly alone and sparrows fly in flocks

You can let go of the balloon sooner and have a sprained ankle, or you can let go of it later and get paralyzed.
Know when to let go
(not a dream in general of course)

Sounds like some good cardio. Good luck homie

gonna get super marathon skinny doing all that pedaling, i hope he's got the appropriate cycling needs factored into his budget.
-couple gallons of test
-a crate of gh
-a case of eq (keep appetite up)
-epo, for increased red blood cell count

yeah, you never really know anything....
i accept that. i'm not trying to claim anything.

in life time flashes before you.
as you get older, you realize how significant the time that you do have is.

certain things in life, such as memories and experience are invaluable.

but, you make your own reality, your own destiny.

most people sit there and wait for something to happen their whole life. be it a job opportunity, a dream, or romance.

before they know it, they find themselves looking back and thinking about the decisions they've made in their life and regretting some of the things they've done.

I get off on creation.
making something that'll last and be around long after i'm gone.
maybe it'll give people hope, and bring out certain feelings for them that help them learn more about the human condition in this day and age, and ultimately, I hope they see themselves in the characters of my films, and learn more about themselves.

I think Murnau said it best.
“Our battle, our struggle, is to create art. Our weapon is the moving picture...we are scientists engaged in the creation of memory... but our memory will neither blur nor fade.”
- F.W. Murnau

just be sure to do it quick bro. 4 more years and your life's pretty much over.

i don't know if you're being sarcastic, honest, or a combination of both.

you're talking to a dead man. My life's been over for 13 years!

Soooooo......

You get mugged in Mississippi or what ngr?

Or did reality set in that riding cross country on a fucking Huffy with a pocket full of cash and a Sony camera is probably a poor choice?

I was looking forward to the sequel of How to be a Creeper...meh.

CW scared him away. ;)

I say this in all honesty, i always thought Iggy was a lil fag, but a good lil fag, if CW scared him away, he was a much larger poosie than I ever give him credit for. And that's bad cause he was high on my poosie rating scale. CW who was a ten on my scale of poosies has now been dropped to a level 9.9 and Iggy is a full blown 10. Annie there is a bad trend at work here, hope you see this before you have a bunch a lil big headed poosie ass kids. I'm thinking you should really reconcile with Steve. Real Talk

Stfu. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Shouldn't you be pumping some foam plates or divorcing a wife right about now? Blind, broken and stupid aren't the qualities of someone in place to give good advice.

Thanks for the concern. :)

Your post was unoriginal and lacks any respect, especially when I only have your best intrest at heart. My concren is solely for you, you're intelligent and beautiful, and I only wish to see you happy and with a man that's a man and can take care of you and his kids. Just FYI I can bench press more than your last two fag bf's combined, Real Talk

Does that mean Feedz is the girl who made fun of CW's haircut when he picked her up from the airport?

I bet a confrontation with CW and Mt. Iggsworth would be one of the biggest cat fights ever.
