Obama complains Michelle doesn't make enough as first lady

She did not get elected and therefore is not due any governmental salary.

Honestly, the FLOTUS (ANY FLOTUS, not just Michelle) does a helluva lot and it's kind of a thankless job, it's one of those things that if she does it right, it slides under the radar but if she's a hot mess everyone notices. But think about it, the First Lady makes appearances where they are judged as representing the US and the President, they organize events both social and diplomatic, etc. ... I think the guy was basically complimenting his wife and making a general observation that a lot of the "women behind the men" don't necessarily get credit for what they do even though without them the man wouldn't necessarily be as successful without them ... and BTW that's how I'd interpret it no matter which POTUS was saying it :whatever:

I am not an Obama fan but there is nothing offensive in that speech. The Michelle was more in jest and everything he said about women making equal money is true.

we the people decide how much he/she should make, and $65k a year would make the cost of fuel cheaper quick..

Its pretty much that way for any wife of high profile CEOs in America, but they arent expected to get any direct compensation. The fact that they are married to such men is in of itself compensation, no? Even more so for Obama with the amenities of the white house, staff, chefs, helicopters, air force one, shutting down any town and having their way with it, $400,000 pension for life, secret service bodyguards for life, and God knows what all the other benefits/perks that come with being the wife of the POTUS. Yea, I dont think she really needs a salary or anything else on taxpayers dime, so holy LOL at thinking the wife of the worlds most powerful man doesnt quite have it good enough.
