Gambling leads to bankruptcy

New member
I have a severe gambling problem. It just started a year ago. I hit rock bottom fast. I lost somewhere between $30K-$40K playing video slot. I'm having to file for bankruptcy on Monday to protect my house and car. The damned thing is I still want to gamble! I have my paychecks deposited into my parent's bank account to make sure my necessities are paid but I've racked up so much credit card debt that it's hopeless without taking bankruptcy. First I had an opiate problem which I eventually kicked. I've been clean over 3 years. Now I have to kick this gambling problem.

Fuck dude, you need to get help! I never really had a gambling problem in my life but as I'm sure, it's like a disease...are you close with any family? Parents? You should talk to them..or any close friends...I hope you can fix your problem bro

Gambling is certainly a recognized addiction along the lines of pornography. I think these are called "Process Addictions" since you arent ingesting any drug or chemical to get your high. But the net result is the same as far as dopamine release in the brain. Dont underestimate it just because you arent putting a needle in your arm. Its very dangerous addiction and warrants professional help.

I can feel the dopamine rush through my brain when I'm playing those games. It's overwhelming. I'm seeing a couple of counselors and I'm going to try gamblers anonymous

i have a soft spot in my heart for gamblers...over the last few years since gambling became legal in pa and since the seneca nation built a large casino just across the pa border in new york, i've worked on numerous employee theft engagements that were all over $200,000 each involving otherwise upstanding citizens who got themselves a gambling jones and paid for it with their employer's money...and i make a lot of money doing the financial forensic investigations...gambling is going to pay for my kids braces and their college educations...hell...if they build enough casino's in pa, gambling could make me rich!!

go get yourself some professional help...i have plenty of other ways to make a living...gambling sucks...the only thing it produces is broken lives...i'd rather be robbed at gunpoint and then pistol-whipped, than give my money away to a bookie or a blackjack dealer...fuck that shit. LOL...i don't even like gambling my karma, and that shit ain't even real!

Man, maybe that dicksucking fetish you have will cure all of this...I'm serious..you need to go suck a dick maybe?

I've also attempted suicide twice. I learned the hard way that 45mg of xanax is not a fatal dose for a 190 lb. man. It just makes you feel like hell for a few days. :worried:

jeezuz, dude! don't do that fucking shit! lots of people fuck up just like you...everyday...not worth dying over! life's too fucking short as it is!

i'm wrapping up a theft engagement right now...the grand total is $889,485.01 over a one-and-a-half-year period...the bulk of the "proceeds" were spent at the seneca allegany casino.

My business partner was the original manager for Playboy casinos and a consultant on many casino developments. We see hundreds of people like you. We see people pawning stuff and heading right to the casino.

As much as it sucked growing up with OCD, I actually think it helped me in the long run for mental discipline.

I hope you can find it in you to kick this bullshit.

Swallowing pills isn't a suicide attempt; it's just feeling sorry for yourself. I would suggest bootcamp if you're still of age. Counselors are worthless pussies because problems like this demand more action than talking about feelings.

only a professional can help you at this point, good luck

i'd also see a psychiatrist about your suicidal thoughts

sad watching old people lose their life earnings at the casino

I'm still addicted to teh poon

I am glad to hear you are taking some steps to control this, the checks deposited into someone else's account is a great start, build yourself a good support system, go out with friends to places that do not involve bars or casinos with those machines, go to the movies, have people over at your place, visit your parents, get a pet and take it for walks and go to the park, take up a hobby or a class, socialize, keep yourself busy to maintain the thoughts and desires to gamble out of your head, know a fulfilling life without gambling again.

Good luck bro, you know I wish you the best and I'm a PM away.

Sorry to hear about your losses. My dad has been playing texas hold em games in illegal small room games for 10 years now, and runs two of them per week. He's pulling in probably $3,000 per week. Yeah, sometimes I'll call and ask him how the game went and he'll say he lost $500, but more often than not it's the other way around. I hope he doesn't end up in the shithole, he's 70 years old and I can't take care of him.

Thats not really that small if he's pulling in $3000 a week. Games like that can get pretty damn big real quick. I guarantee he's not winning $3k most weeks and only losing $500 occasionally. I'm not saying he's losing his ass. He's probably a decent player but unless he's playing with idiots every week, that's just not how it works.

I used to play in a game that started as $1/$2 blinds with maybe $2500 on the table total. Maybe 10 months later the game was $5/$10 but every pot was nearing a grand, so I quit playing. A year or so later a guy gambled away everything he had and was in debt for over $100k so he killed himself on his way home from the game. I'll never understand why you can't just quit.

oh, and an old man shot another old guy because he got beat with some bullshit hand, recently. Crazy old bastards. We don't have gang bangers down here. We've got old white men that like to gamble.

LMAO, yeah. He plays $5/10 for the most part. All I know is he only carries cash on him and always pays for everything when we go out to expensive ass restaurants.

He's probably pretty damn good then. And hosting can bring in some decent cash if you pull a small percentage out of every pot with all pots being at least $3-400.
I should host a game and just deal. Between the house's percentage and dealer tips I could pay for my juice without coming out of pocket
