so...I've been tweaking my SO diet a bit here and there and hes not a super compliant guy (sneaks off for soda and has no idea what carbs really are) so really he's just been making mostly cleaner food choices and in the last two weeks I convinced him to try intermittent fasting

well holy crap what a difference THAT made
he went from a flabby four pack to just startin to see an 8 pack and the bastard is still sneaking soda (I find the bottles in the recycle bin and hes the only one who drinks this particular brand)


I can't imagine what this would do with a cleaner diet


he's also started to put on shoulders which hes genetically screwed on...course I did tweak his routine a little too..and actually shortened it....and convinced him to knock it off with insane daily (7 days) workouts and dropped a ton of small movements that I thought were redundant and counter productive to recovery


this is with no cardio btw because he just can't to find anything he likes since he can't run anymore from his mc accident

so...there it is...anyone sitting on the fence should give it a shot
 
thx shirlene, i wasnt quite on the fence, but im def gotta try IF when i get back to my normal routine in 2 weeks.

what should caloric intake be? couple hundred deficit to cut fat?
 
I go with a deficit and keto....the other half hasn't made a conscious effort to cut kcals but probably has just based on new awareness of what constitutes as a bad carb..lol

Baby ive started my diet back in july and lost 34.5lbs and i drink at least 2 diet drinks a day. I love coke zero,diet root beer or pepsi max. I will lose another 15lbs before june on my I.F. dit that i love so much because it have been life changing.

Tell me about it!! I kept gaining weight and feeling like a fat bitch eating that much a day. Since i started the I.F. diet it so simple and i could eat until im full. This is a lifestyle for me not just a diet. I could do this forever! My workouts are better on this diet and i give myself a free meal once a week. I have 15 more pound to lose but im not worried because i know it will happen.

this is how I USED to eat when I was effortlessly thin....started eating three squares and had the thyroid cancer..gained a shit ton of flab
then started stressing myself out on 6 meals a day ...feeling a little hungry from it all afternoon and bloated and shitty in the morning


now I just eat in the evening and I feel pretty blissed on it

How long is your average fast??!
 
I eat between 5-9 (I get up at around 7 and I go to sleep around midnight, though my schedule fluctuates more)
he eats between 2-8 (he gets up at 5 and is usually asleep by 11)
and its generally only one huge meal with weird snacks before and after and some whey with almond milk thrown in for good measure)
I've even noticed my weight doesn't budge one way or the other if I drink wine or hard liquor..I hate beer anyway tho except a guiness like twice a yr

Im high protein and high fat...almost no carbs...hes moderate carbs min fat high protein

carbs just stick to my ass like glue

I also train before work at 4:30-5 am, so no food after until noon. It is hard trying to get that many calories in a 8 hr period...but we will see how I respond. Shirlene, have any suggestions for me as far as IF goes and what I am doing so far? I too am high protein, low carbs, high fat...for now. Input appreciated ;).

Cool cool I am quite experienced with IF I have used it many times and am just curious to others approaches. One thing I couldn't get over was how healthy my skin looks after about a month! I used to fast from 8pm -130 then eat a few smaller meals ... Strength train at 530-630 then hammer out a massive meal. Along with whey shake. Never been so ripped in my life. Tad skinny though :P oats and rice or potatoes after working out with dinner and on off days low carbs.

One thing I found helpful was to have a green tea during my fast, seemed
To help me if I was feeling fatigued. And if you ever get the chance like on the weekend or something, hammer out some heavy training at the End of your fast, no food prior, then indulge,
I could literally feel the growth hormone pulsing using this method:) heavy low rep squats/ deadlifts/ interval sprints all will give a massive pulse in GH especially when in a fasted state!

the bcaa's really seem to help me immensely...as well as the other half...now getting him to take rest days..nother story/nother thread..though I think his forced day off because of his lasik surgery taught him the lesson I was hoping he'd get
what was funny to me was martin's site recommended xtend (watermelon) and I already had it when I read it over but never really loved it until I started the IF..now its like...liquid gold to me when I train and extra tastey

what rustilldown suggests is a good idea...and I happen to train in the afternoon...so its kind of how my schedule works out

Thanks bro, I have drinkable, caps, and chewable BCAAs that I use pre/intra/post/inbetween meals...now fasting lol, and it isn't as difficult as I thought due to my love of food and cooking, kind of nice not having to eat for a while...then eat calories for the day in an eight hour period. I will welcome your suggestions bro...thank you.
