for me personally, if i give into mob mentality, its more of a "well fuck theyre doing it, looks fun" or a "doubt il get caught, look at all the distractions"

I tend to agree more with the convergence theory(ies) of crowd psychology, meaning I don't think a crowd causes a person to do something they completely wouldn't otherwise want to do. I think crowds come together formed by a group of people with a similar opinion or desire to do something, but that those ideas/actions can get out of hand when the enthusiasm of a group takes that idea or action from normal to an extreme version of itself.
