Although you will get gains from HIT, long term in order to maximize your gains you should periodize your lifting. That is, you should lift for a period of low intensity / high volume followed by high intensity / low volume followed by low volume / low intensity (rest). Periods should be anywhere from 4-8 weeks. Lift all exercises with good form and do the concentric portion of the reps. as fast as possible. Don't buy into the super slo stuff, it is not the most effective way to build muscle. Also, multiple sets are more effective than one set to failure. Keep a detail record of your training and plan your training in advance. Don't just plan exercise to exercise or one day to the next.
