: Ok, here's the deal. Soy protein will not have as much flavonoids (like genistein) as an
: unprocessed product; however, it still has significant amounts. Also, these flavonoids are
: SLIGHTLY estrogenic. However, the overall effect in low dosages in the body is a significant
: anti-estrogenic effect.

: Believe me on this--a BV of 168 is absolutely ludicrous. The whey industry itself rates whey
: at 94 and realizes that it is not quite as good in terms of BV as egg.

: Found stats today on BCAA and glutamine--Whey has 20.1 grams of BCAAs per 100 grams of protein and
: has 4.9 grams of glutamine. Soy has 18.1 grams of BCAAs per 100 grams of protein and 10.5 grams
: of glutamine. You decide which is better!

: I am really leaning towards mixing these proteins! I don't think you'll be able to
: beat the combination for price, effects, etc. I will use the absolute best soy isolate
: in the industry. It is instantized, bland, comes from the largest soy protein producer in
: the WORLD, and is extracted using a water process instead of chemical!!!
: Keep up the fight

Another positive effect from soy protein that Unique forgot to mention was the phytoestrogens
that soy contains. I know, you are saying to yourself "Why the hell would I want to add any
form of estrogen to my body ?". Let me tell you why.

Soy phytoestrogens can mimic natural estrogen in the body, yet reduce the effects of that same
estrogen. The soy estrogens can occupy estrogen receptor sites in the whole body, especially
typical female fat storage spots (but in men and women) like the breast tissue, hip and buttocks,
etc. The phytoestrogens are many times weaker than natural estrogen is. This means that you will
have less of an effect from estrogen in the body. Anyone using anabolics will have a rebound
of estrogen when cycling off, and the soy may help this, too. If your estrogen level is rising
because you are doing a major androgen like test, d-bol, or especially the big anadrol, you can
get problems like gyno. A combination of decent amounts of soy protein and 3 Tbsp. a day of flax
oil may reduce or prevent this problem. If any of you guys have problems with your cholesterol
levels, soy has been proven to lower LDL cholesterol levels. If any females out there run a risk
of breast cancer (mom, sister, aunt, grandmom had it), you can reduce your chances of getting it
with soy protein.

As you can see, there are some good possibilities here. I'm not trading in my ion-exchange whey
protein for soy, I have just been adding soy to my whey. I still strongly believe the ion-ex
whey is the way to go (sorry), but I do suggest adding soy protein. If you are taking in like 300
grams a day of protein like I am, there is plenty of room for some soy. Another plus is the lower
price.

I think Unique has a great idea. There will probably be a big increase in soy products for us
bodybuilders soon. I have even discussed this topic with Will Brink, the guy who writes the
supplement articles for MM2K and Musclemag.
