I've been on it for several months at a time
> How was your strength on the diet?
After your body gets used to it, your strength seems to
be fine. However, the main purpose of the diet, in my
mind, is to maintain muscle while losing fat. I think
a regular carb diet is better for gains.
> My Main question is HOW WAS YOUR ENERGY and your ability to CONCENTRATE?
After 2 weeks, my energy and concentration were perfect, in fact, it
seems to spread it out better, since you dont get those blood sugar
swings during the day.
FOR WORKING OUT - I do a mini carb-load 30 minutes before a workout.
about 50 grams of Carbs. That provides the tissues that absolutely
NEED glucose with glucose. It prevents muscle catabolism during longer
workouts.
> How many calories were you taking in.
Honestly? I dont know, thats one of the benefits of the diet, your hunger
tends to be blunted when in ketosis, and during the carb load, since it is of
short duration, its tough too eat TOO much..
> Did the fat pour back on fast when you returned to a carb. metabolism?
Nope, in fact, I gained quite a bit of muscle. This got me to thinking
that this diet should be cycled every couple of weeks.... well guess what,
someone thought of that, and basically came up with the ABCDE Diet that
was written up in MM2k.

For the first couple of weeks, it can be rough, but after that its been
no problem.
: I weigh about 230 now at about 18 percent bodyfat. Do you think that this
: diet could get me lean (8-10 percent) by June and be close to the same body
: weight? I heard that is what I could expect on this diet?
Well, what I would expect is for you to lose the fat, while retaining
the lean muscle tissue, so I would expect a weight (fat) loss. I have heard
that it can be used to GAIN muscle weight, by increasing the calories and the
duration of the carb load, but I haven't tried that yet.
In all truth, all my lifts have gone up since I first tried this diet several
months ago, so I guess I must have gained something though!
> OH! ONE OTHER QUESTION. HOW WAS YOUR WORKOUT ENERGYWHILE ON THE DIET?
Once adapted, it was fine, especially if I ate a bit of carbs before
the workout.
Do this, Lyle (DNP animal) McDonald is something of an expert on this
diet. So if Jeffrey Krabbe. They are regular contributors to the
Lowcarb-l mailing list. Its a list dedicated to training while on low
carb diets. To subscribe, send an Email to:

Good luck.
