How your privacy is under attack!
When you surf the Web, your fingerprints are left every place you stop. Web sites collect all sorts of information about visitors, from what Web browser and ISP you use to more personal information like your IP address and e-mail address. If you browse at work, your network configuration can even enable sites to get your name.
Nel frattempo, your ISP can monitor all of your browsing habits, documenting your travels across the Web. Though most ISPs won\'t use this information inappropriately, the real vulnerability is that this sensitive data exists and can fall into the wrong hands. Hackers may gather personal information on you, and soon you could be the victim of a scam or worse yet, identity theft. O, a government agency, such as the FBI, may monitor your online activities and arrest you for any suspect behavior.
Why should athletes like you and I care? Consider some ways that your personal information can be used:
Your employer: People rarely get fired for poor performance alone. Piuttosto, employers will go through your old email and look at your web browsing patters in order to get ammunition for firing you. Or let\'s say that your boss or a coworker does not like you. Every site you visit on company time can be tracked and used against you. infatti, 11 percent of Americans overall have been disciplined or outright fired because of e-mail they sent or the surfing they did at work.
According to the American Management Association, 27% of US companies check employee email. Let\'s say that your are reading my guide to finding steroids and not getting caught called "I segreti del successo di steroidi Mail ordine 2005 edizione." Do you really want your boss to know that this is something you were taking a look at?
You\'re probably aware that courts have ruled that workers can\'t expect their workplace email and computer files to be considered private. But some companies are taking surveillance to the ultimate level with inexpensive software that can log every word you type. This new spy software will copy each and every tap on your keyboard and pass them directly to your boss.
The Wall Street Journal calls these companies "the keystroke cops" and notes that what you write does not even have to be stored on your computer to be read. "Say you draft a rant to the boss or a client, E poi, thinking better of it, delete the whole thing," Michael J. McCarthy writes. "Too late. One by one, all the keystrokes have been sucked up and stored on your computer\'s hard drive or sent as email that a computer-system administrator or manager can retrieve at his convenience."
The ads for these products makes their intended use crystal clear: "Secretly Record Everything Your Spouse, Children, and Employees Do Online," invites one firm. Another vendor promises to help "companies understand how employees use their computers, especially, how much time they spend for non-business purposes or in ways that could result in legal exposure for the organization." Chiaramente, your privacy is under assault in the office.
Identity fraud: Identity theft is skyrocketing, according to the Federal Trade Commission. Calls answered by the FTC\'s identity theft hotline (877-IDTHEFT) tripled in the past six months with an average of more than 1,000 calls a week. Experts say that the Internet makes a huge difference. The Net makes is easier to steal an identity and once it\'s stolen, it\'s easy to use that identity online.
Monitoring your movements: What if a potential stalker or some other person with bad intentions monitored your e-mail or Web activity and learned where you might be at a certain time? Such a scenario is not far-fetched with today\'s technology. Companies monitor e-mail and third-party advertising and marketing groups identify and track users\' online activity all the time. The consequences could be devastating.
Even popular Microsoft programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint imbed invisible markers, or Web bugs, in your documents that can be traced back to a specific PC.
And then there\'s Carnivore: As I mentioned in past emails, the FBI is using a new technology called Carnivore, which is likely to change privacy, as we know it. Carnivore is information-gathering software created by the FBI to combat criminal activity on the Internet. Carnivore is housed in a computer that connects to your Internet Service Provider\'s (ISP\'s) servers and mines all incoming and outgoing mail for information.
The FBI claims to use the software to locate and monitor SPECIFIC email addresses for evidence of criminal activity. però, in the process of monitoring a single account, Carnivore must sift through ALL available account information on a given server. The objection privacy advocates, legislators, and the general public have with Carnivore is that the net it casts is too wide. The FBI will have the ability to look through the accounts and email of people not suspected or charged with any crime. Ulteriore, you and I have no protection or knowledge of unlawful or accidental seizures of account information. Fondamentalmente, you will have to trust the FBI not to invade your privacy.
The unfortunate fact of the matter is that as Americans, we have almost no privacy rights, and very limited means of protecting our personal information. Così, until this changes, each of us needs to do three things. You need to scrub your computer, cover your tracks, and encrypt your email. Per fortuna, there are some great resources available for you to use to keep your personal business private. Here\'s what I not only recommend, but what I think are the absolute essential privacy tools that you need to start using. [back to the top]
Elite Fitness Secure Encrypted Email Can Help take back control of your Privacy
One of the easiest things that you can do to protect your privacy is to use web-based, encrypted email like the free Stealth Messaging from Elite Fitness. Elite Fitness has partnered with Hush communications, creators of hushmail.com, to offer our subscribers free 2,048-bit encryption of the EliteFitness.com email. The email system is very similar to hotmail, Yahoo mail, or hushmail except you get a cool email address like [email protected]. So if you go by Big Rick Rock on the elitefitness.com discussion boards, now your email address can be [email protected] or anything else that you choose! Get a free EliteFitness.com Email address now.
The source code to the Hush Encryption Engine, which provides key management, encryption, and digital signature functionality for Hushmail, è available here to download. This means that the greatest hackers and crackers in the world have access to the source and can try and penetrate the encryption engine. This peer review process means that anyone can look at how the encryption works and make it better if a problem is ever found. It also means that you are not taking the word of a company like Microsoft, that the system is secure, anyone can look at the code and if they have the expertise, try and find faults in it. To date none have been found, although hundreds of the greatest minds have tried - and that\'s a good thing, because it means better code to better protect your privacy.
Philip R. Zimmermann is the Chief Cryptographer for Hush communications. Zimmermann is the godfather of Internet encryption and creator of Pretty Good Privacy (PGP), the very first encrypted email program. In 2000, Info World magazine named Zimmermann one of the Top 10 Innovators in E-business. In 1999, he received the Louis Brandeis Award from Privacy International. And he has won numerous other awards for promoting the responsible use of technology. Zimmermann said, "For the past decade PGP has been the gold standard for email encryption but we\'ve always had trouble expanding beyond the power users because of ease of use problems. The OpenPGP standard will be well served by Hush\'s fresh approach to ease of use and its roaming capability. Ulteriore, Hush has a consistent track record of publishing its source code." When I check my secure elitefitness.com Stealth Messaging email account, I am glad to know that Zimmerman\'s technology is behind the service.
The beauty of Elite Fitness Stealth Messaging is that its security cannot be broken or weakened by government sponsored snooping software - not even Carnivore. The Hush encryption engine powering Elite Fitness\'s security system is a lot like a circuit, when one Elite Fitness user communicates with another Elite Fitness or Hush user, the circuit is complete and the mail they send is completely safe. infatti, most of the moderators and senior members of our site, only accept email that originates from a secure elitefitness.com account.
To anyone other than the sender or the recipient of an Elite or Hush email, the message appears as a jumble of numbers and letters. It is completely illegible. The only way to decrypt or unscramble messages is by using your own passphrase when you open up your Elite Fitness Stealth Messaging account. Carnivore cannot decrypt your mail, and is therefore, powerless against messages sent between Elite and Hush users.

How to use the Spam Control Feature
Spam Control Contents : |
If you already have an EliteFitness.com account, or just as soon as you get one, you can start using the Spam Control Feature.
Spam Control options can be accessed by clicking "Spam Control" in your EliteFitness.com account.
This system provides many tools for dealing with Spam:
- Email coming from known sources of Spam is not delivered.
- Email suspected to be Spam has its Subject flagged. Puoi filter this Spam.
- You can configure Consentire & Block Lists for specific email addresses and domains.
- All unencrypted incoming email is scanned for attached viruses before delivery.
- A warning is given when an email may have forged headers.
These features allow you to prevent suspected Spam, and bounces caused by Spam, from ever reaching your Inbox.
Email that is likely to be Spam will be marked as such in the Subject line.
By selecting the appropriate dropdown option, you can choose to:
Add the sender to your Allow or Block Lists.
Put these emails in your Pending folder.
Delete these emails automatically.
Email that is likely to be a false "Undeliverable" bounce should be deleted
Selecting this checkbox will prevent "Undeliverable" error responses from being delivered to your account. This feature, also known as Backsplash Protection, blocks any email from a POSTMASTER or MAILER-DAEMON account unless you recently sent email to their domain. If you frequently communicate with someone using such addresses, you should disable this option.
These features allow you to choose how to filter email based on address, domain, or whether or not it\'s encrypted.
Add recipient email addresses to my Allow List when I send email.
Selecting this checkbox will automatically populate your Allow List when you send an email, ensuring that friendly responses and email are delivered to your Inbox.
Send a "challenge-response" message when I receive email from an unknown sender
Selecting this checkbox will send an automatic response to unknown Senders, containing a hyperlink to the challenge-response system. The Sender must visit this webpage and manually click a graphic to be added to your Allow List - something spammers will not do.
While it\'s impossible to predict where Spam will be sent from, friendly addresses rarely change. To keep your Inbox free of Spam, the best long-term solution is selecting both "Put it in my Pending folder" for unencrypted email and "Add recipient email addresses to my Allow List when I send email".
Allow List
Email from these addresses and domains will be delivered to your Inbox. Si prega di notare:
To add a Domain, enter \'@domain.com\' into the input field, and click "Add Allow".
Allowed email will bypass all filtering options.
Block List
Email from these addresses and domains will be deleted when they reach our network. Si prega di notare:
To add a Domain, enter \'@domain.com\' into the input field, and click "Add Block".
No response will be sent for blocked email.
Occasionally, email from certain Senders may not be filtered according to Allow or Block list entries due to forged headers.
This section contains advanced information for email delivery with the EliteFitness.com email servers.
The SpamAssasin project is used to scan and assign a score to each incoming email; when that score hits a certain threshold, a prefix indicating Spam is added to the email\'s Subject.
Email which uses proper English grammar stands a very small chance of being a false positive, as matches are based on patterns found predominantly in Spam. More information about how SpamAssasin assigns scores can be found at:
//wiki.apache.org/spamassassin/HowScoresAreAssigned
"Nuovo" Spam may contain text variations which haven\'t yet been recorded, and may not be flagged accordingly.
Ricorda: While it\'s impossible to predict where Spam will be sent from, friendly addresses rarely change. To keep your Inbox free of Spam, the best long-term solution is selecting both "Put it in my Pending folder" for unencrypted email and "Add recipient email addresses to my Allow List when I send email" in Spam Control.
Email can appear to originate from any email address, regardless of what server actually sent it. This is often referred to as forged headers. Email whose value for Return-Path is different than From will display the following message when viewed:
Avviso: This message may be forged. The return path ([email protected]) does not match the from address.
While this may indicate Spam, it can also be caused by the Sender\'s email provider sending from a different server. This may result in the email bypassing your Allow or Block List filters.
To resolve this, select "Show Actual Message" from the "Options.." dropdown, and view the headers. This email will contain different From and Return-Path headers, es:
Da: "Utente" [email protected]
Return-Path: [email protected]
Add the address or domain shown as the Return-Path value to your Allow List. Note that email from this address may continue to be sent from different servers until the email provider changes their configuration.
