There was once a contention that Fedor Emelianenko was unbeatable in the world of mixed martial arts. Up until 2010, he hadn't lost a fight in years, and nobody seemed to want to fight him. Men, that invincibility is definitely gone after Fedor dropped his second fight in a row - this time to challenger Antonio Silva.
So did Emelianenko's camp take the loss graciously and move on? Absolutely not since juicing accusations are being leveled at Silva. They say that Silva miraculously gained 20 pounds in between the Friday night weigh-in, and the Saturday night fight (which Fedor lost by TKO).
Fedor's coach, Alexander Michkov, said, "Obviously it was not a problem for Silva to make a weight. He weighted 264 pounds in the day of the weigh-ins, and the next day, he was already over 280, he gained 10 kg; it's very hard to fight with opponent like this."
At være ærlig, I wouldn't be surprised to know that Silva juiced too in order to win the Strikeforce heavyweight belt. Even with the big weight gain that fighters experience the night after weighing in, 20 pounds is a little excessive.
Under alle omstændigheder, I think it's about time that they legalize steroids in MMA and every other professional sport because athletes are going to gain any edge they can anyways - even if it's supposedly against the rules.
