C'è un nuovo film, Generation Iron, in anteprima settembre 20, 2013, segue la vita personale dei bodybuilder pro attuale top-7. Il film è praticamente un sequel per il 1977 film Pumping Iron which told the story of the most famous rivalry in bodybuilding competition history. La rivalità era tra Arnold Schwarzenegger e Lou Ferrigno. The rivalry between the reigning Mr. Olimpia, Phil Heath, and the first runner up at the 2012 Olimpia, Kai Green, is the focus of Generation Iron – much like Pumping Iron focused on the rivalry between Schwarzeneggar and Ferrigno. I was fortunate enough to attend the 2012 Olympia and even more fortunate to have had Kai Greene as my personal trainer in the 1990s. So although Heath looked phenomenal, I was a little sad that Greene lost to Heath by only 1 vote – making the 2012 Olympia the closest one in history.
While the film is certain to be great entertainment, I wonder if the truth about the extensive anabolic steroid and other drug use that these pro bodybuilders go through will be highlighted, merely mentioned, or most likely, will it be ignored completely. To show you the extent of the drugs used to get into Mr. Olimpia, competition-shape, I will publish an actual steroid cycle of an IFBB Professional Bodybuilder. A sample anabolic steroid cycle that a pro-bodybuilder would use.
It would be so refreshing if the anabolic steroid use in bodybuilding would finally come out of the closet about steroid use – something I have dedicated my life to – but a conversation I had with a potential sponsor of EliteFitness.com illustrates just how hypocritical this industry is. I was speaking with a sponsor about advertising on EliteFitness.com and while the prospective sponsor told me how much he loved EF and how he has been a member of the site for years, he said he could never advertise with us because he would never want his bodybuilding supplements associated with a site about anabolic steroids. I point out to this guy that he was already sponsoring the biggest anabolic steroid induced muscle worshipping pageant that ever existed – and he was at a loss for words. I will never understand how what goes on at EliteFitness.com would be considered by most to be on the fringe, while at the same time, the steroid and drug induced muscle display that is the modern Olympia passes as mainstream.
In Pumping Iron, what made the rivalry between Schwarzeneggar and Ferrigno so interesting was how opposite their personalities were. Arnold was always surrounded by people while Lou was to himself and trained in a dark secluded basement. The film was so up close and personal that you got to witness Arnold smoking a blunt (marijuana) right after competition. In the new film Generation Iron, we see in the previews that director Vlad Yudin is also up close and personal with this newer generation of bodybuilders. We also know that since Pumping Iron mostly featured Schwarzeneggar, the then reigning Mr. Olimpia, Generation Iron will focus on Phil Heath and Kai Greene’s efforts to take the top slot away from him.
Director Vlad Yudin feels that many people out there are misinformed about what it takes to be a top bodybuilder. I know that it takes more than pumping anabolics to become a top bodybuilder and so does any dedicated weight lifter. If you have seen Ronnie Coleman’s workout (or trained with Kai like I did) you would know what a truly grueling lifting session looks like. Some feel this may be the Rocky of bodybuilding films because of the in depth info they will be showing on the lives and industry of bodybuilding. I would love for the bodybuilders to talk about which regimes and diet plans they got the most results from. Something I also found interesting about this new film is that the original producer of Pumping Iron will be one of the executive producers of this new film; which means he will try to dig more into this film than the previous one he actually produced. As the saying goes, “you need to fail in order to succeed”.
Il Generation Iron preview mentions that we will discover what truly goes on in the life of the bodybuilder. Does that mean they plan to discuss and display the anabolic cycle regimes? I doubt it. Come mai? I will tell you why, Jay Cutler was asked many times throughout his career if he had taken anabolic steroids. His answer was always “no” which we all know is not true - just look at the dude’s face. His face is very androgenic and at age 39 you are not going to be able to look age 20, loaded with muscle, without the help of anabolic androgenic steroids. Am I saying that there are no natural bodybuilders? No – of course there are natural bodybuilders. però, all the biggest and most striated bodybuilders use performance enhancing drugs to stay at the top of the game. Let’s be real you cannot gain substantial size without gaining water and fat, it goes against physics. The only way you stay lean and RIPPED is by using substances that are anabolic but that also cause the body to expel water out such as winny.
Jay Cutler also has interesting ritual in which after lifting, he will eat an In and Out burger, which I am sure they will venture into. It would also be awesome if they can tease out the real reasons that Kai Greene chose to pose nude for various promotions. Hint, he didn’t bare all so he could afford to buy whey protein. I am going to keep my fingers crossed that the film gives us answers to many questions we all want to know.
