The European Bodybuilding Championships recently concluded in Sofia, Bulgaria, and there were little surprises with the results. Three countries that are typically strong in weight training-related sports finished in the top spots with Russia, Bulgaria and Turkey all taking the podium.
Despite being beat out by Russia for first place, Bulgarians were very happy with their finish since they hosted the competition. Bulgaria's best bodybuilder of all-time, Hristomir Hristov, won gold in his weight class of 80 kg, and won the best overall at the show.
In all, there were 300 bodybuilders that showed up to Sofia's National Palace of Culture to compete in the IFBB's biggest event so far this year. Obviously there are bigger events to come, but I always love taking a moment out to check out the international scene and who's faring well.
And seeing as how 4,000 people turned out to watch the event, it's pretty obvious that other people loved checking out the European Bodybuilding Championships too.
