Chances are that most of you have already seen the hit MTV show 'Jersey Shore.' It's about eight housemates who live and work together in a vacation house around Seaside Heights, Nova Jersey. Mais especificamente, the show is about partying, bar fights, tanning, and supposedly bodybuilding (though the bodybuilding isn't shown as frequently).
A couple of the stars of Jersey Shore in Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro have become extremely famous for their builds. Sorrentino has more of the fitness model build while Ortiz-Magro has a bit more of the traditional bodybuilder build at 5'5", 220 libras. Both of these guys obviously got their ripped builds from working out and some say steroid usage.
I could care less about the negative connotations to steroid usage as I believe that everybody should be free to juice to pack on muscle. de fato, I think it is perfectly fine. Contudo, I'm wondering whether all of the bodybuilding and steroid talk surrounding Jersey Shore hurts or helps the sport of bodybuilding.
On one side of the equation is the fact that Jersey Shore is really popular and it's popularity only serves to bring more interested people to bodybuilding. Afinal, they want to look like their idols on Jersey Shore. Contudo, all of the partying and bar fights also makes bodybuilders look bad since Sorrentino and Ortiz-Magro are often associated with bodybuilders.
In terms of news coverage, Jersey Shore will only make bodybuilders look bad. But I'm sure this won't stop newcomers from being interested in bodybuilding.
