Ladies, looking for some advice for my wife. She is 36 and has had three children with a set of twins. She has been into fitness for over 15 years. Heavy cardio and weight training. Diets heavily. Problem is she works out like crazy and her weight fluctuates daily with no gains. Its as if she doesnt work out.. She seems to bloat up a lot around the mid section. Literally her ass will be soft one day (full of cellulite) and hard and firm the next. Is that hormones fluctuating that causes that?

My first thought is hypothyroidism, but I'd have to know more about her before planting a diagnosis...you say her diet is on point, we'd need to see an example day to confirm this...

Believe me she does fasting diets, eats blackberrys, oats egg whites. Basiclly eggs for breakfast, cereal for lunch along with protein drinks in between and usually she will eat small portions steak and potato or chicken breast for dinner. It's almost as if the more she diets and the harder she works out the more I see these particular bloating symptoms. she was prescribed testosterone cream after giving birth to the twins 6 years ago. That lasted about 6 months and once it ran out she quite getting it. I told her she needs to go see a hormone specialist but she just doesn't get it. She thinks the answer is to just work out more. But I don't think she can work out anymore than she already is. She's a freak. 2-3 hours everyday in the gym lifting weights and crazy cardio sessions on the bikes and treadmills.

could she have a blockage causing her to bloat after eating? or how bout digestion issues?

i know I bloat up like a balloon after having dairy, obviously i am lactose intolerant as most people are.. if i have a whey protein i gain like 2 pounds after a glass of it!! lol

I wonder if she's over exercising and under eating? It's a viscous cycle. Has she taken a week or two off? Eaten at maintenance? It would be worth some blood work too just to rule out hormones. With that much working out and heavy dieting, it can really throw your body off, especially approaching 40. If she's doing all that work and results are minimal, I'd relook at what she's doing. Work smarter, not harder. ;)

No digestive issues that we know of. What kind of blockage are you referring to?
