New Year = DUI

Yep, bad New Year for me. At about 2 am last night I was coming home from a New Years party and I recieved my first and last DUI. I live on base (military). They smelt alcohol on me so I had to do a sobriety test. Past that but when it came to the breathaliser I failed (.12). Spent most of the night in the base jail until my supervisor picked me up. It sucked. I am losing my base driving privleges for a year and I have to park my truck off base now. I think im just going to sell it. I am also going to lose rank and will have to put in many hrs of hard labor. It will be harder to find a job on the outside world now. It sucks... Don't drink and drive bros. This is a mistake I will be regreting the rest of my life.

The "hard labor" will be more like painting the orderly room vs breaking rocks or something, but it still sucks. Your military career is pretty much over now. Fortunately you didn't hurt anyone, imagine how you would feel if you had killed some innocent person. That would have really ruined your life and someone elses.

Get past this and start your life anew. We all screw up.

Exactly, no matter how bad everything seems right now, it could have been a lot worse.

at least you didnt kill anyone

why is that? They throw you out for getting a DUI? He wasnt driving a tank.

In a small, all-volunteer army, a DUI on your record will end your career. You will unlikely get promoted past the rank of SSG. It is practicallly seen as a Cardinal sin because it is reckless behavior and the Army has such a tough time with alchohol and drug abuse that has zero tolerance for it when it comes to leaders.

And rightfully so, I might add.
