I've had eating disorders for ten years, but normally on the anorexic side. The last few months however have been like 4,000 calorie binges in the middle of the night. I've finally been able to stop (thank God!! =) But i want to get back in shape, and even aim to compete in the future. My guy friend is a competitive bodybuilder, and has given me a "routine", but anyone with encouragement, direction, or advice, would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Especially anyone who has dealt with simillar issues. I'm 5'4" and around 135 pounds. Thanks so much!!!! :worried: undefined

please give me your 4K food binges!!! much appreciated!! welcome aboard...everything is perception. "You respond to what you perceive, and as you perceive-so shall you behave".....

We have several members who have recovered from various eating disorders. I'll do a quick search and get some links for you. :)

Welcome!

This kind of lifestyle has pretty much saved me. I've been able to pour all of those compulsions about food into something positive-- a healthy clean diet and healthy training.

For me I was utterly clueless when I got here so I literally read posts, did searches, and took notes. I had no idea what to eat. I also didn't have healthy "ideals" of what I wanted to be like physically. The images I would have glorified in the past now make me think "ick" and I am more wowed by healthy strong women. :)

Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome Raina =0. It may sound strange, but i feel inspired and stronger when i come to this site and research. I could stay here all day long! I look forward to feeling better about myself. But it will take a while. I think thats the worst part about gaining weight. More than what i "look" like, its how icky i "feel" in my skin!!!!! =(( I can't wait to feel beautiful again! Every woman needs that!

Welcome! (And thanks Daisy Girl for saving me some time :)) Training and lifting has helped me in so many ways. Our bodies were designed to work hard and be strong, so they're a lot happier when they get to do that. One magazine I really like is Oxygen. I remember when I first started reading it how alive and happy those girls looked compared to those in the fashion magazines whose bodies were limp and expressions lost and empty. Like Nike says, "There's an athlete in all of us". Train yourself to be the best athlete you can be, and the body will come.

I'm getting more and more excited =))))) I too had the misconception that heavy training on legs would make them even bigger...but now i can't wait to do it and see what happens! I feel empowered to go ahead and DO THIS!!!! =) thanks ladies.

All through college my sister has done ~30-35 hours of cardio a week for 6-7 months a year (college athlete). But she didn't lift and she was flabby. And she really thought I didn't know what I was taking about and that I was naturally lean. Now I have her on a clean diet and lifting. She's make amazing progress in the last 4-5 weeks since starting all of this. I'm very inspired by her progress and growing confidence.

She was scared that lifting heavy would make her bulky. She can't believe the results and how good she feels about herself. She can't believe how proud she is of herself for getting stronger. It's really neat for me to hear her tell me all of this too because I know what she's feeling like. :)
