dB - about kubrick

One of the greatest endings in film history. Have any of you ever noticed how Kubrick almost ALWAYS ends his films with an old song. For example, "Singing in the Rain" in A Clockwork Orange, "The Mickey Mouse Theme Song" in Full Metal Jacket, "Midnight with the stars with you" in The Shining and "We'll Meet Again" in Dr. Strangelove. I just wondered what the reason for this is. The Man is a genius.

Most of his films struck me as preachy and heavy handed. Strangelove was a delightful exception (for the most part).

no I haven't. have you seen "five easy pieces"?

Yes. It's a classic, but it moves slowly. Nicholson really plays up the surly, disaffected loner bit. If the rest of the film was as good as the diner scene, though, it would have been a riot.

I need to revisit that film, I haven't seen it since the 1970s.
