ot but ? about child support laws

heres the ? that I was asked the other day.. lets say that a man has 3 kids 1 with one lady and 2 with another. he is currently paying 17% of his gross pay for the first child. now according to the laws its 17% for one kid 25% for 2 and 29% for three. now if he leaves the mother of his 2 kids what is he obligated to pay? 29% and its split between the 3 kids? or 17 for one and an additional 25 on top of that for the other 2? Now logically i can see 29 for all three, but that then means that the first childs payment is most likely to go down and they all don't get as much as they should. it sucks that non custiodial parents have to pay so much money but such is life i suppose. I have looked for the answer on the net but have been unsuccesful. I'm just curious if any of you know the answer. remember i'm looking for NY state laws. thanks.

i was going to post it there but you know how some of those folks over there can be. they get their boxers in a bunch over certain stuff. the question is for a lady i work with but they will assume its me and i don't have the energy to deal with the money hungry bitch answers.

Well I believe that it is 29% of his total income divided between three kids, even if it lowers one child's support. He will probably have to go back and have his child support re-evaluated according to his current income, because what is not paid will be charged to back child support.

I have an ex who doesn't pay his child support on 3 babies and my current husband who does pay his faithfully. So I have a little knowledge of the subject.

my husband now pays 17% on his son from his first marriage like a good daddy should. we have always gone above and beyond with helping her (his ex) financially. before school starts we give extra money for school clothes, if he has trips at school we have paid for them. why some men would not pay is beyond me, these men and women had babies together so they are emotinally as well as finacially responsible for them.

I can't believe how my ex has gone on and forgotten about his children. My son thinks he needs his dad right now, so I let him go and stay with him. Now the other two girls don't exist. But they still think he's the cat's meow. He's super dad during summer break, then after that he's the invisible man.

To add a bit to my previous post, no more than 29% of a person's income can be withheld for child support.

spatts thank you for all your time that you put into th is ?. I will relay the info to my friend at work and i'm sure she will be pleased to have an answer.thanks again!
