What can be used to lower SHBG?

These are some that I've heard are helpful:

Avena Sativa (Wild Oat Extract)
ZMA
Muira Puama
Eurycoma Longifolia Jack (Long Jack)

Proviron (Mesterolone)
Humulin-R or Humalog (Insulin)

Proviron:
As much as 97 or 98 percent of testosterone in that amount is bound to sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) and albumin, two proteins. In such a form testosterone is mostly inactive. But as with the aromatase enzyme, DHT has a higher affinity for these proteins than testosterone does, so when administered simultaneously the mesterolone will attach to the SHBG and albumin, leaving larger amounts of free testosterone to mediate anabolic activities such as protein synthesis. Another way in which it helps to increase gains. Its also another part of the equation that makes it ineffective on its own, as binding to these proteins too, would render it a non-issue at the androgen receptor.

1 alpha-methyl-DHT (mesterolone = proviron) has a stronger binding affinity for SHBG than T, but binds weaker to the androgen receptor than proviron; stacking proviron should keep SHBG busy and free up some T, which then can bind itself to the AR. Nelson has posted an article about this some months ago.

the study: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov:80/entr...eve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=6539197 :

"1 alpha-Methyl-5 alpha-dihydrotestosterone (1 alpha-methyl-DHT; mesterolone) bound most avidly to sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) [relative binding affinity (RBA) about 4 times that of DHT]. Some anabolic-androgenic steroids bound strongly to the AR in skeletal muscle and prostate [ RBAs relative to that of MT: MT greater than 19-nortestosterone ( NorT ; nandrolone) greater than methenolone (17 beta-hydroxy-1-methyl-5 alpha-androst-1-en-3-one) greater than testosterone (T) greater than 1 alpha-methyl-DHT]" ...

I wouldn't consider it a waste of money. Some of those natural products if bought from a quality company are very good! Plus it gives your body time to be androgen free.

I have always wondered how insulin or lack thereof, affected SHBG/free test. I read that somewhere, but can't recall.

Do you have more info on that, mrflexdiesel? Studies etc.?

Thanks.

I want to report an interesting observation. As most of you know, I try to run blood tests on as many clients as possible. I have discovered the following phenomenon: The clients using mild to moderate doses of Testos (100-600mg weekly) along with an aromatase inhibitor (aromasin, arimidex) displayed supraphysiologic free testos levels and reduced shbg. What this tells me is that the search for a med/compound to lower shbg is moot. I see this phenomenon time and again.

Doc thanks for the observation there is no substitute for the blood workup facts, I believe the phenomena is easily explained by the relatively low (compared with T) estrogen levels. Estrogen raises SHBG, androgens (T, DHT) lower it.

Otherwise not mentioned in this thread: winny is a very strong SHBG suppressant.
