This seems to be a controversial question so I thought I'd throw it out there.

Is it possible to lose fat and gain muscle while on an AS cycle? I say yes because I did but I have heard plenty say it is nearly impossible.

While on a cycle do you usually cut most of your cardio out while bulking then towards the end of the cycle incorporate cardio back in to help cut?

Everyone has different techniques for their bulking and cutting cycle. Whats yours?

hooooooooo yes! Natural, no. On a cycle, yes! I do it every time!
I do cardio 3 times a week and eat big but clean.
Of course it means less muscle gains over all, but its not a bad trade off.

Oopps, you said "girls", pretend I said that in a high pitched voice.

I can speak from experience, I found it IMPOSSIBLE to put on mass while lean. I had to do it the old fashioned way, get fat and happy....then lean out.

All this technology.....I dunno, ya'll are putting up some pretty convincing arguements for looking into all these supps ya'll are touting!

So maybe I oughta mosey on over to the "6 month goals" IG posted.

I don't think there's any doubt that a person can lose fat AND gain muscle while on a well planned cycle, especially if it's your first cycle. Basically the AS will partition nutrients very nicely into more muscle and less fat as long as you eat clean and don't pig out all the time. But the lower your bodyfat is, the harder it becomes to do this. In other words, it is relatively easy to lose fat/gain muscle if you've got plenty of fat to lose. This is true even for overweight folks who aren't taking AS. But as you get mean and lean (around 12%BF and below for women) it becomes almost impossible even with AS.

The cycle I recommend most (because it gets good results) is to eat maintenance and do your cardio for the first 2 weeks of a cycle to give the AS time to kick in. Once you feel it working it's time to cut back on the cardio and up your calories with mostly really clean food (occassional junk is healthy for you). Ideally you would eat 300-500 cals above maintenece. Towards the end of your cycle is time to drop the calories back down and reintroduce the morning cardio. If done properly over a 12 week cycle an average bodybuilder should be able to gain noticeable muscle while leaning up.

It all depends on how much fat we are talking about.. if your some kind of "lardo" (25% or more for women--20% or more for men)who takes AS then yes you could put on muscle which will raise your metabolic rate and which will then burn fat (if you eat enough to begin with)

But with most who have alot of BF it spares the muscle you already have and you look more muscular when you come down.

Can it be done yes...but you really have to know your body..It's WAAAAAAAAY easier to do one or the other than both at once.

But judging from your pics TN it looks like you pulled it off.
But ask yourself this...

Did you jog your calories at all during your cycle?

Did you cheat at all? (high cal--low cal days).

Stop cardio for awhile then start up again?

If so than you did kinda did a mini-bulk and cut cycle wrapped up in one. Which works well but like Monster said diminishes the results at either end of the spectrum.

Yes IG I did cheat while on my cycle. There were definite cheat days. I did go through phrases where I would get burnt out on cardio and do nothing but weights and vice versa. Like I said before, I probably could have made even better progress had I been stricker on my diet and had a more detailed
plan for my workouts.

I am enjoying this post it's getting some good information to think about. MS ck your email.

Yeah, of course the best muscle gains come from just eating and not worrying about fat. My best gains are when Im not worried and just eating reasonably clean and big.

Didn't want to start a new post so I thought I'd share here.
Went to the gym-leg day-worked them until they were throbbing. Went to get into the car and couldn't get my quads under the steering wheel. hahaha its a sports car and the steering wheel sits very low yet I have never had a problem with this until recently. For the first time I have actually had to raise the steering column to drive my car! Now I can't see over the top of the wheel.lol

Hey there Tnhey, you better not be out wandering late at night on them other boards. If I have to have a talk with your mother about this kind of behavior young lady - you KNOW what that means. So next leg day I strongly suggest you do walking lunges with the 25 pound dumbbells for 20 paces, three sets - last exercise after your regular chores, and we'll just keep this between you and me

Don't they just SUCK! Gods do they kill me for some reason. Hell, I only use a 35 DB. I'm glad you gave them a shot. It will help you when you need to change up and do something different. Has your butt started to get sore yet? It really hits me there and on the inner leg for some strange reason....

Oh my...my butt is a sad sight I must say. If every I were in an ice storm and didn't make it the survivors could eat that butt fat until spring. Actually it's my hips or upper butt!lol It will be the last to go. Go back to my webpage I will put a lovely hip pict up. Now in this pict I am a little bloated all over due to my monthly thing coming on. But boy can you see the hips. Still working hips, inner thighs. http://communities.msn.com/TnheygirlsSite

Back to the thread...
Yes it is possible while 'on'. don't even bother if not. The key as others have said is to keep the bf in check by doing 2-3 cardio sessions per week at an easy pace for 30 mins. If we are careful with what we put in our mouths (stop thinking nasty thoughts y'all) we can stay 'relatively' lean. Cheat when you 'must' for sanity's sake. IMHO, 10 lbs or so over 'ideal' weight will allow some room for enjoyment while making the summer vanity diet not that big a deal.
