SHE HAS MADE GREAT PROGRESS SO FAR. BUT IM LOOKING FOR YOUR INPUT. WEIGHT TRAINING- RIGHT NOW SHE IS ON THE BODY FOR LIFE DIET, SO SHE CAN LEARN HOW TO EAT RIGHT. SHE SAYS THAT SHE REALLY LIKES GOING TO THE GYM WITH ME, IF I ONLY KNEW THAT SOONER........ ------------------

It's just gonna take TIME!! How much weight is she gonna lose? Don't try to rush it, at this point she just needs to do something active and keep at it no matter what. Also remember to keep her diet clean ( and take in enough protein) and for her to drink plenty of water. I know this advice sounds really general but at this point in her training she just needs the very basics.

THANK YOU GOD SHE IS DRINKING ATLEAST 1 GALLON OF WATER A DAY. CUT OUT THE SODA POP. EATING CLEAN. SH WANTS TO GET BELOW 160. BUT IT IS PRETTY HARD TO PICK A LONG TERM GOAL WEIGHT RIGHT NOW. SO WE JUST SET A MONTHLY GOAL FOR HER. ------------------

I agree with the bascics right now. And I also like the monthly goal. But do ONE MORE thing - TAKE SOME PHOTOS! This will help you to help her more than anything. Women it seems, really like to see that progress in a photo. Maybe cause they read all them glamor mags Dig up that sugar thread of mine. And way to go about getting her off the soda - it is liquid dead in a can. One more thing, get her on this board! ------------------ Lobo

My other half has been in the weight room now for the last year, weighing in now at about 235. The struggles I have had to deal with .... 1. Total lack of understanding food and diet. Like, I tried teaching her about balancing her meals and I think that it has actually taken the full year to get her to start reading labels. and,...if it isn't big enough to be considered a 'meal' then she wouldn't count it in her overall calories. And she doesn't understand the impact: "I'm not cheating". 2. She doesn't get that same high from the burn that I do, so workout intensity is some cruel punishment that she just will not impose upon herself. She'll show up at the gym regularly and she's there to work, but she won't push herself beyond the comfort zones unless I'm there pushing her. I'm the bad guy, and believe me, I get some pretty dirty looks on those days. 3. Ditto with Lobo on the pictures. Someone that out of shape is going to develop a lot of muscle quickly....which throws off the scales. Where I can see changes, she looks at the scale and thinks chocolate fudge sundae. 4. Change up the routine often. Try circuit training periodically. Show her different ways to do the same exercise, etc. My girl gets bored after 4-6 weeks of the same thing. 5. Start Cooking. You can do wonders for her understanding of food by creating a delicious meal composed of all the right ingredients/ratios. ...to say nothing for what it will do for her psyche to be catered to a bit. There is nothing more depressing than the idea that you're going to have to live on plain oatmeal for the rest of your life (well, you know what I mean). I think that this is where most people decide to fail a diet. Thanks for asking: I needed to be reminded ------------------

I actually got some good news this morning. A couple of months ago, I read and article (well, it was really an add) in the news paper about a couple of body builders gone professional trainer who had developed a supplement to help overweight people shed pounds. Their philosophy is that your body will not allow weight loss if you are chemically imbalanced. So their mix of vit & min with other things like chromium picolinate and such, in addition to a well defined diet of 5 small meals/day (with a simple exercise regimine of course), would correct this imbalance and people who cannot otherwise lose weight ....lose weight. Well anyway, I was pretty skeptical but nonetheless desperate after making little to no progress over the last year so I turned her on to the article. She jumped on it and placed her order. She started taking the pills a week ago, but didn't actually start doing the diet until today (following my big lecture yesterday). She called me when she got home from the gym this morning happy to announce that she has dropped 7#! WooHoo! ------------------

Allright!! That's great! A chunk of it is probably water but don't tell her that!!!! Have you done any BF analysis with her? It would be interesting to see her lean body mass change....I just broke 165# at 5'4" this week it's a long road but busting hump will get me where I used to be...I got tested in march and I was 215# and 39%BF yuck!!! I'm going to go get retested next month...I'm working with a trainer who says I'm the strongest woman he's ever worked with... without AAS.... Little does he know I'm going to start a winny cycle... I'm hoping to get stronger bigger and leaner...

Kaizen- I had no idea you had lost that much. That is amazing and I know it takes some major inner strength to get to the point of getting off your ass and doing it. Just wanted to tell you how impressed I am. |
