The Olympics are turning into a big pile of horse excrement.

Folks, I just can't believe what Olympic sports has come down to. Now it seems, one cannot even take a simple cold medicine and survive the Olympic Inquisition!

Ive never be a big fan of the Olympics in the first place, seems to me that it is a lot of effort and wasted money, for what? I mean, how many of the gold medal winners really ever make a living after they are to old to compete in a sport that is never played or watched except every four years! How many more dreams are SMASHED when one does not even make the team let alone place in an event In my mind there are far to many losers to justify the one gold medal winner. The cost is becomming just ot high.

Sure I under stand the importance of sports for our youths, but we all know what I takes to make it in the Olympics and it goes far beyond the benefits and lessons organized sports has to offer.

Ill cut this a WAY short and let a few of you chime in before I really get going

A whole pile!
Hell, it barely qualifies as a couple of chunks of shit to me...
Fuck, even the ephedrine aside, how about the media acting like Marion whats-her-names medals are being showdowed by her husband failing a drug test? What does he have to do with her???
Oh, the husband uses, so the wife must too.
Ummmm, ooooook...

Beach Volleyball?! Come on guys, I can't see how ANY team sport belongs in the olympics, or even pro sports like tennis. What's next? Golf? Bodybuilding? (oops, I just remembered bodybuilding IS and olympic sport now-I can't wait to see them develop a test for implants or fake tanning pills).

I'm happy to say I don't have a TV at the moment, so I don't have to get TOO upset by the whole excremental affair.

i have to keep changing the channel or at least turn it down because of all the crap they keep slinging around. let people make up their own minds. it all goes back to self resposibility which no one seems to have anymore. just watch the news. somebody or something else MADE them do these things. makes me sick. just my thoughts.

International Olympic committee officials are considering for the future an Olympic games where there are no banned substances. For every one athlete that fails a test, there are twenty that get away with it. The I.O.C.'s opinion is that the playing field should be level. Right now it's not. They too believe that testing has gotten out of control. There is major resistance from the U.S, though.
I have a question for you - do you think you're going to make money from body building forever? I'm sure you lift because you like to and because it makes you happy. The same thing goes for these athletes - they're not just doing it to make money.

Veeeeery innnnteresting.
I must admit that my sense of nationalism is always high just about every 4 years or so. I do like the idea of the olympics although it makes one wonder who came up with a few of these sports??
As I'm sure most of us here know elite level athletics is full of "enhancement". I think the big mistake here is the manner in which the whole steroid issue is being so blatantly flaunted. IMHO the IOC needs to shut the fuck up about drug use and let the stars shine. Are there really people left in the world who don't understand the role anabolics play in the amazing leap that human performance has taken in the past 20 years? I mean really y'all? After attempting heavy squats and knowing what it takes to train day, after day, after day, just the recovery these folks are having to do must be "assisted". Yes there are plenty of gifted athletes in the world, but there is no fucking way that out of all the folks over in Sydney right now, not to mention the "also rans" that got left at home to train for 4 more years, only a few are taking a little cold medicine and getting stripped of medals and shit? There aren't that many gifted athletes in the world. Lest we forget the NFL, NHL, NBA, etc. Nations want champions, and most of them know how to build them and not get caught.

Personally, I get bored watching most of these events esp. ice skating. I guess I don't care who wins. Anyway, I believe the body should be allowed to made to win by any means necessary. Pills, shots, whatever. As far as it being cold to the ones who don't make it, thats life. The ones who do make it will have there moment in time. I just wish these games were on pay-per-view so it wont bump off all the would be more interesting TV.

Oh WonderWoman just reminded me of another thing about the Olympics that really annoys me. Nationalism, blech. To me one of the best reason's for NOT having team sports at the Olympics is that you could eliminate Nationalism. I get the feeling that 30-40% of the athletes that compete at the Olympics are NOT competing under the flag they were born to. America and Great Britain are particularly good at 'aquiring' world-class athletes from more impoverished nations. The Olympics to me should be about the BEST athlete in each sport, not which country they come from. I say put them all in standard issue Olympic clothing, or better yet go back to the original spirit of the Olympics and make them all compete naked.

Just heard the overall ratings, something like 14 points. That is the worst rating since the 1968 games.... NBC payed some 700+ Million for the rights and now with the shitty rating, many advertisers are going to get extra time during the new season openers this week....

I think it was called "Bronze (medal) Bun Busters". No wait, maybe it was "Shaving Ryans's Privates" or possibly "When Harry Wet Sally". Hmmmm, I can't seem to remember.
