I used to not be able to get outta bed from mine... until i went on the pill, my cramps subsided, and the length of it shortened (i used to get it for 10 days!!!!!!)...tell her to talk to her gyno about this...its technical term is dysmenorrhea. By the way, its very sweet of you to be so concerned! ------------------

I have the same problem and I use Ultram. They are doctor prescribed. There is no reason why her physican will not give her a script. I demand what I want and these work! All I need is one a day. ------------------ quote: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=83954&a=613332&p=27784421

Ultram is prescribed for pain...it was given to me once after a car accident...Her gynocologist should give her something to ease her cramps or she should switch doctors. They are supposed to HELP her, not tell her "haha, we're not giving u a prescription!" Get her to someone else ASAP! ------------------

Definately get a second opinion if her OB won't help her. For the natural route she can also try taking cranberry, evening primrose oil, teas of raspberry leaf or nettles. All of these items are very helpful for the female system due to high mineral content. BUT I would be sure that something else is not causeing her pain if its that severe. There might be blockages etc. Also she should look at her diet - sometimes dairy can effect a woman adversly as well as high fat. ------------------

Also, there are some pressure points you can use...hit a bookstore and find a book on reflexology...the area around the lower calf and ankle bone is the pressure point area but you need to see the pictures to know exactly where I'm talking about to massage...also there is a book by Diane Stein called "All women are healers" where she does a pretty good discussion of vitamin deficiencies and how particular metabolisms require increases or decreases in some vitamins and minerals. Some std's also can cause severe pain but some doctors don't test for them in women who aren't "too" sexually active...Or it could be that a laparoscopy is in order to take a look around...I'd say get a new gyn definitely...Call a women's health center and ask for recommendations for gyn's specializing in reproductive disorders...good luck... and you're a great partner to be so concerned! ------------------ "Omnia praeclara

I too get some nasty cramps. Birth Control pills can help to an extent. A heating pad works great to, however it doesn't last long. I use Motrin 800's now, my doctor prescribes them for me. If her doc won't help her out, time for a new doc. |
