I did some reseach because I am involved in a situation concerning genital warts (HPV). I understand there are about 30 different strands of this and two of which can cause cervical cancer. Do you think if a guy wears a condom you are safe from all STD's? No, the fact of the matter is that the infected area is the whole genital region which will brush up against your genital region during intercourse(unless he is hung like a horse, hehe) OK, I said I wasn't going to get rowdy. Anyway, the only way you can be sure is abstanace or safe monogamy. Furthermore,the virus is always present eventhough the warts themselves may not be. You all be safe!     | ||

AH, yet another reason to be picky... My cousin contracted GW from the first man she ever slept with. He said "trust me". HA. I've been lucky because I have NOT played it safe in my party days. Very, very lucky!! MD - are there any current treatments/meds for this virus? Or are there too many strands to be effective? How closely are GW related to say a cold sore on the mouth? ------------------ | ||

A cold sore is more related to herpes. See, warts (genital) are no threat to men, meaning to say the virus does not attack the vital organs such a syphillis (brain) and herpes (liver). Genital warts can be treated by liquid nitrogen from a doctor or self application with a medicine called Clondex. How often warts appear/disappear (yes, they can disappear on their own) and come back, size and location of warts vary among infected individuals. | ||
