(This is a post I made on the Anabolics board, but I think it pertains to anyone who hits it hard and consistently as it deals with the waxing and waning of motivation... so I brought it over here to the Womens board, hope you dont mind.)

This came at just the right time, while I was feeling down and tired. I was rooting around in some old boxes of junk and came across a training journal from a few years back. Comparing weights then to weights now gave me a new appreciation of how far Ive come. Heres a few that picked me up...

Incline Dumbell press:
Then: 40x10, 50x10, 60x8
Now: 110x10, 120x10, 130x6, 100x10

Barbell Row:
Then: 95x10, 135x8, 135x8
Now: 225x15, 315x10, 405x10, 315x8

Angle Leg Press Calf Raise:
Then: 90x12, 180x12, 270x12, 350x12, 450x8
Now: 270x15, 450x15, 900x10, 1200x8x6

Alternating Dumbell Curls:
Then: 25x10, 30x10x8
Now: 40x15, 50x10x8, 55x4

...and on and on. Now this may sound like just a bragging post, but its more than that.
If you dont, you HAVE TO start keeping a log of what you do. IN DETAIL!!! I cant begin to describe to you how pumped up I got when I read this! I carried it around in my pocket all day long. It was like a good luck talisman, warding off wimps and wussys (heh heh, j/k).
Really though, I always heard the old pros talk about it, and I did it more because I can never remember what weight I used last, but dammit if they werent right! It made every time I was irritated to have to pick up that "stupid notebook" to write my last set in worth while! Sorry to ramble, but after so long at this, to find something that reinvigorates my passion is incredible!

Exactly. I thought I had tried every motivational trick around, but I feel almost "reborn"! I hate to belabor the point, but this has had such an effect on me!!!

I've kept a training log since day 1. It's so important to go back and be able to see how far you've come and if you've met any of your goals.

I've always believed this should be done in combination with a few photos taken every so often. It's so amazing when you put them into "time lapse" order and YOU CAN SEE YOURSELF improve.

Good stuff M

WarLobo, thats one of my greatest regrets. The only picture I have of myself is at about 180-190lbs. I wish I would have taken others to watch the progression. At 260lbs now, Im kicking myself in the ass for not taking pictures when I was near 300!
