As a true righty, my left bicep and tricep are lagging shamefully behind right in strength. Do any of you have this delemma, and how did you overcome it? Thanks... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ||

Yup, but my arms are probably the lesser is my dissimilarities. My legs are the weak link in my physique. I think that the biggest mistake you can make when addressing dissymmeties of this nature is bilateral exercises whereby (ideally) all the weight is (evenly) distributed between the two. ie, barbell curls, two fisted cable curls, etc. As hard as you may try, your strong side will help the other side. I can't promise you that unilateral will be a quick fix (in fact, my left bi still quits before the right), but you stand a much better chance of balancing them out. When your weak side quits, you stop with the other side as well. Some of the problem revolves around the efficiencies of the nerve impulse as well. Training them independant of each other will better simulate two leaders instead of leader/follower. I think Poloquin is doing research on techniques to improve the efficiency of nerve impulses (whereby improving muscle performance and endurance). Last I heard it involved training the antagonist on the opposite appendage while simultaneously training the agonist (or prime mover) on the first(?). For example, do tricep extensions on the left arm while doing bicep curls on the right arm. One more tip, always begin w/ the weaker side, i.e. left in your case. Then, use the stronger side, i.e. right. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
