Okay, I did a search on the question I'm about to ask but I had problems on finding exactly what I'd like to know. What foods either protein/carbs (and also ratio wise)should I eat after lifting and after cardio? I am an 18 year old female trying to lose about 10-15 pounds. I alternate days with cardio and lifting in the morning on an empty stomach. Any advice would help. Thanks.

Did I read correctly - you LIFT on an empty stomach? Doing the cardio first thing in the AM B4 your first meal is one thing - but lifting on empty stomach - THAT IS A NO NO!

I work out at 5am and this is what has been working for me. I will have protein drink (25g or 1 scoop w/water) before I walk out the door with a tsp of flax oil...then immediately after lifting I'll have a small bowl (about 3/4c) of a high fiber cold cereal (I love Kashi Good Friends or Go Lean) with a bit of pro powder (about 12g or 1/2 a scoop) and a 1/2 c skim milk. Your muscles are depleted after lifting and need help to replenish the glycogen stores. I've noticed better endurance during lifting and recently the stiffness I was experience in my legs has disappeared. I attribute some of this to eating pre/post workout. I had never done that before. Experiment and see how it feels. (And yes I pack the post meal to the gym)

Thanks skydancer and bikinimom for oyur replies. I am going to train in the evenings now, seeing it is more convienient for me and also because I should eat before and in the morning I don't have a lot of time to do much of anything before heading to the gym.
