![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My girlfriend of and I are going on vacation. It happens to coincide with her monthly cycle. She has been on the birth control pill for over a year. She was told that if she skipped the 7 sugar pills and started over like it was a new month with the regular pills she would skip her period. She was told this is OK to do. I looked into on the web and saw that it has been done. I am still a little concerned, is this ok for her to do?? Also, does she just take the next 21 pills then the sugar pill and all is OK? Thanks. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I think it's safe to do for a month. I wouldn't recommend doing it longer than that though. I do know a woman that goes to my gym that says she does it every month, and never has a period. I don't think that would be healthy. But if she only wants to do it once , it shouldn't hurt. I'm not an expert though, see if you get any more replies first. missgalaxy IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So let me get this right...she would continue on her next months packet w/o taking the sugar pills in order to delay her period. Hmmm...My personal thoughts on this are its not right to mess with your natural hormones/cycle any more than the pill already does. I've never been told that its okay to do what she is considering but I've never been told its NOT okay either. However, I'm on the same page as MissG - one month probably won't make a difference. ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I should also say I am not a Dr or even medically trained...its just my gut opinion that I gave... ![]() ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What I have done in similar circumstances is stop taking my pills one week early. It has forced my period to start one week early, then I resume taking them after a week, like normal. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I've done it and it works, no harm done. If she had period problems before she went on the pill I would consult her gyno first, to be safe. She should probably call and ask even if she never had problems at all. ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I, too have heard this is okay to skip the sugar pills. The only reason I don't skip them is that it keeps me on a schedule so I don't forget to take them. She should consult her physician. He/she knows her medical history. ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I have done this many times...it's no big deal...yes she just continues like she would normally....take the 21 pills then on to the sugar pills....she'll be just fine...I wouldn't do it often but once in a while here and there is not bad for her. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I have also done this - got the okay from my doctor first. Don't do it often but for a special occasion it is fine. IP: Logged |
