Ok, FC how the hell do I lose 5 lbs? I can't take it anymore! I eat 4x per day -- clean. Oatmeal, chicken, etc. These 5 lbs just refuse to budge! I'm 5'3" and weigh 132 at 19% bf. Want to get to 16-18 bf. Would this happen w/o cardio?? Snow IP: Logged |

That's right!!! He's a great guy!!! About the cardio...let's put it this way, I have tried just about everything except for taking a knife and just cutting off that last little bit of FAT!!!! I just can't seem to budge that little bit around the middle of my stomache after having out daughter. I've been doing 4 x 45 to 60 min of cardio...either on the eliptical or both kickboxing and eliptical. I'm kinda hooked on the eliptical...it's different than just walking or biking. Try the ECA, it seems to work for a lot of people. Good luck IP: Logged |

Snow I bloat veeerry bad 2 weeks before I start(if you didn't read the Dolly Parton thread) and I have an overwhelming desire to eat every morsel of food in the house. I have tried chromium, hydroxy, E/C/A, extra supplements and minerals, and taking a nap any time I feel like gorging myself. I too do not know what to do. So your not alone! ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hi Snow I'm sure you'll get lots of similar advice on this one, but since I'm online and waiting for my breakfast to heat, I'll tell you my opinion. At your weight, 2500 cals per day is WAY too much for fat loss. 4 meals per day is not frequent enough (you need to get AT LEAST 5 redualr meals, 6 or 7 is even better). And you should drop everything but fresh vegies and protein from mid-afternoon (this means no pasta, rice or beans). I would also get rid of the lamb for now. I you're not going to do any cardio I would aim for no more than 1600-1800 cals per day broken up into those 5-7 meals. For instance, 300 cals 6 times per day. And try to at least double your water intake. This will help reduce hunger and bloating. Adding in a multimineral supplement and some 5-HTP may also help reduce pre-menstral cravings. You should also really try a thermogenic such as ECA or Adipo to increase fat-burning and dull your appetite. This is just a start, and may sound harsh when you're already hungry, but you're eating way too much by the sound of it (unless you calculated your calorie intake wrong). IMHO IP: Logged |

Lobo Why, other than the obvious reasons? I too am guilty of that nasty addiction, one of the reasons that I haven't quit is for fear of the weight gain that everyone who quits seems to go through. IP: Logged |

So how much do you all smoke? Is that not expensive??? Hell, you could pay for a good cycle and clen/eca stack for weight control. If your really concerned about your weight gain, use the patch thing-a-ma-bob for a while. OK, I'm not going to even get into this cause I will fricking hit the roof. My whole damn family smokes - I'm the only one who does not. So I'm just not going to try and talk anyone out of it any more - nicotine is far more powerful than anyone person.... Even me :p ------------------ Lobo IP: Logged |

okay, your diet is off......try cutting out your fruit for now, till you lose the weight....what kind of protein shake are you using- I hope not myoplex- look in the ingredients- it has corn syrup solids in it....stop eating bars....they all suck...increase your meal frequency to 6-7 a day- eat every 2-3 hours, ups the metabolism....drink at least a gallon of h2o a day...much more if you are taking as...use a multi vit, multi mineral........take a fat burner, stop smoking, do a.m. cardio on an empty stomach,....try meal 1 cup oats & scrambled egg whites in pam...or do oatmeal eggwhite pancakes....mix together oats & eggwhites, pour into small pan & cook in pam...top with A LITTLE light syrup if you really feel the need, or a better choice is to use strawberry preserves or something similar.... meal 2 whey protein shake mixed with water meal 3 grilled chicken breast, 1 cup mixed veggies steamed & cup of brown rice meal 4 get lean beef ( look for select, not choice on the pkg)grilled, with mixed veggies & brown rice or chicken, cooked in a pan with pam, add veggies, and a little bit of water, add some pepper, tabasco sauce, and cook till soft....my fave veggies with that are peppers, squash, and zucchini... meal 5 whey protein with H2O meal 6 Scrambled eggwhite omlet with vegggies mixed in

Before I came to this board quitting was not even a possibility for me, I now have the patches and the pills and have gone from real cigs to ultra light 120 things that taste like shit and will quit when I am ready and that is not today. I really do want to know what smoking has to do with fat loss - go ahead and hit the roof but I REALLY want to know. I thought that nicotine increased the metabolism... BTW the cost of the cigarettes is minor compared to what it is costing me to get all the wrinkles sandblasted off of my face and I know every one of them was caused from smoking! IP: Logged |

About the smoking. There is no question that quitting changes your metabolism. Nicotine does cause you to produce adrenaline. I have spoken to many Docters regarding this and have been told that, if you had no change in your eating, (which is next to impossible), you will still gain a minimum of 10 pounds. I smoked my whole life, worked out, always stayed very lean. I quit 5 months ago and it has been a battle since. I am currently doing Body Opus as we speak. I have increased my cardio, the intensity of my work-outs, etc. Very unhappy with how I feel, not smoking. If I had it to do over again, I would never put myself thru this again. I think if you work out, do your cardio, smoke if you must. I think we smoler's were born to it and now I have been reading there is a genetic predisposition to smoking. IP: Logged |

I don't even know what to say except DON'T SMOKE PLEASE! Even then I know you won't listen to some girl on a discussion board. I implore you to continue to research a healthy lifestyle and see that smoking is soooooo detrimental to anything that you are trying to accomplish here. Geesh, I'm gonna go back to thread about dairy products and see if any of you were arguing that those were bad....NAPALM OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!!!! IP: Logged |

If we believe the demographic statistics collected by the cancer society and heart association, your chances of suffering ill health are much less if you are an obese alcoholic than if you are a lean, tea-totalling 20-a-day smoker. That is all I'm going to say on this topic. IP: Logged |

Cigarettes: If you're already addicted, you have my condolences because it is just a waiting game - where something has to click in your mind before you are ready to stop. No one can say a thing that will impact you. The patches and pills are a bunch of BS - I've never seen them work for anyone, permanently. You wind up replacing the cigs with the patches. Anyone I know who has quit did it without any of these aids - it all happens in your mind just like the diet and training stuff. But I must admit, it does baffle me when I see a BB light up. Very contradictory behavior. If you can overcome this thing, it does help you in the mental toughness aspect. - An ex-smoker ------------------ IP: Logged |

IronGod, I didn't contribute to that post, but I agreed with what you said and think that aspect has to be emphasized above all the rest. So, I purposely used your phrase because it fits so well and is the answer to so many of the "whys". The missing key in a lot of failures whether it's BB, giving up a bad habit, changing any behavior - is the mental toughness aspect...the discipline. That is what it takes. I should have backed up what you said, sorry. I just thought it was the unspoken "goes without say" thing, but I guess it's not because some people didn't like it. But it IS the key and it evolves. I am always asking myself "did you really do everything you could have done?" and I can always seem to find something that I could have improved on if I had put all of my mental effort into it. Did I really commit 100% or did I give in to my weaknesses? Hard to be honest sometimes. So much a test of self control and will. There have been so many times where I thought I can't do anymore. This is my limit mentally and physically...then, I learned that that just meant I was getting mentally prepared to deal with the next level. Just gotta keep stretching the limits each time you try - each time is practice for reaching your goal. I agree with a lot of your stuff - just don't always have time to say - yeah. I guess I'm an Iron Ass, too. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Alright so who wants my Chocolate chip-peanut butter-oatmeal cookie recipe! I will try to see if I can make it low fat maybe throw in some protein powder, a few tablespoons of say flaxseed oil and crush up some multi vitamins hey why not just throw a few vials of winny in. Well I guess not the cooking part may kill anything active in the gear. Just a thought. IP: Logged |
