I am doing 20 minutes of high intensity cardio three days a week and 30 min of moderate intensity cardio two days a week. I am training my butt off in the gym two days on, one day off, two on, two off. My diet is clean and adequate but the fat is just not coming off any more, feels like my body is fighting to keep it. I am getting 7 hours of sleep per night and an hour and a half nap in the afternoon. Am I doing too much cardio, not enough or is this just a plateau that I will eventually work through. Three weeks ago I dropped 5# and was concerned that it was too much but since then everything is staying the same. IP: Logged |

Fewer cardio sessions, longer duration. Try to go 60 min. Late Lobo IP: Logged |

cut out the high intensity, you may start to burn muscle. you want low intensity anywhere from 30 to 60 min at least 4 x per wk, in the am before you eat is best. You want to burn fat only so you want to stay at your cardio level. any trainer at your gym can help you with that if you dont know what that is. You may also want to try an e/c/a with your am workout. & thats my $.02. [This message has been edited by Gilbyag (edited July 25, 2000).] IP: Logged |

I'm about ten weeks out from my next competition. I cleaned up my diet about 3 weeks ago and had been strict (limiting complex carbs to first two meals) for one and half weeks AND FINALLY - only dropped a few # but the difference is in the way my clothing fits and what I see in the mirror. I started back to cardio (3 45min sessions per week) 2 weeks ago and it SUCKS! It's a slow process it seems but in 10 weeks it'll all BE GOOD! Because of changing show dates (been a lot of that here in Jersey for one reason or another) I thought I was competing Sept 8, but the date is Sept 30 so I have a few more weeks than I originally thought - I get to have 3 to 4 meals w/comp carbs for now. I don't want to cut my carbs to early as I will give up too much of my hard earned mass. After this show in Sept - I'll chill and grow until the spring. What I am trying to say is that I know it sucks and it seems to take forever - but keep on and progress will be made! IP: Logged |

I'm depressed the two fat pockets directly on the top of each hip won't go away! I am trying to build my butt muscles (see the post on cellulite) so I'm doing 9 or above incline on the treadmill for 30 min at least 4 days per week. Whats the deal? I tell my husband if we were every stranded somewhere without food and I didn't make it he could live for weeks maybe months off my butt alone!lol ------------------ IP: Logged |

I personally have had the best exsperiance with HIT. It is located at the Muscle media web site. It takes approxmaitely 15 min 3 times a week. I have followed it for 3 months. 30 sec sprint, followed by 30 sec. walk. Hope this helps. IP: Logged |

I am starting to feel overtrained - exhausted all the time, depressed and my period is all messed up - is this also due to the amount of cardio I am/was doing? How many days should I take off from it to get things back in running order again. I have been bustin' ass nonstop for 7 months. I don't want to take off from lifting - don't think I could stand more than a couple of days of total rest but I really feel like shit. IP: Logged |

Cardio should be medium to medium-low intensity. It will take you a few time to get the hang of the longer duration so just know this going in. REST. Take three days off from lifting and your past cardio routien. Rest day one: Go for a long walk outside(30min or so) and then strech for a solid 30min. Eat well and drink plenty of water. Day two: Same deal. On day four, start out fresh and believe me, you will be ready to go. ------------------ Lobo IP: Logged |

I took two days off instead of three - was so miserable by the second night that I just couln't take it anymore. I am using the plan that was done for DLady (about three weeks into it) and have noticed that the day after leg day that my jeans are way tight in the thighs - they have always been pumped after a workout but never had swelling the next day. Also my quads are outrgrowing every other bodypart - will everything else catch up eventually? What is up with that? I looked at my diet again after reading Bikinimom's post - I am eating about 80g of carbs a day - is this enough, I have been so focused on getting the protein in that I haven't been paying that much attention to my carbs. I have gone to a 6-7 meal schedule which does feel better. Getting the food thing right has been the hardest part of this - it is very easy for me to forget to eat if I am involved in something else. Temple - I'm currently taking in about 150g carb a day. This feels really good to me. I've tried 100 and 200 but for my current needs 150 seems perfect. I think everyone is different though in terms of training intensity, goals etc. Oh yes and now I'm at 8 meals a day too...sheeeeeeeesh! ------------------ IP: Logged |
