What is yall's ideal role model for a fitness competitor? When you see a competitor on stage what is it that they have or that you like that makes you say,"I WANNA LOOK LIKE THAT."

DEFINATELY Monica Brant and Kelly Ryan! They are both DEDICATED to every aspect of the game, and don't cut corners. Monica has retired, I believe, and Kelly is kicking ass on the circuit right now. I feel that too many of the fitness women don't look good, also. They are either too big, cut, or just plain unattractive facially, and this goes against the concept of what fitness competitions are looking for. There must be better judging criteria also.

since they now have new rules and regulations both for female bodybuilding and fitness i think we will see that the women wil look alot more "feminin"..i think the whole point is to make the sport so that when women look at them they will say "hey, i wanna look like that". or sumthing, they didnt before..well, only the hardcore ones did

from what i have seen of this years competitions i wold say its looking very good..Kelly Ryan looked great, and so did Vicki Gates, when they wone the fitness international, and the Ms. International.

BuffBlondie- I couldnt agree with you more on what you said! Monica Brant has been my alltime favorite, I got a chance to meet her and take a pic with her about a month ago! Shes awesome! My ideal fitness role model is a nice well toned natural physique, so you can see the lines(not super lean to were it looks unhealthy) and a pretty attractive face and smile.

I think it's Deidre Pagnanelli or something like that. I don't think she competes, she just does the modeling. Wish I was that tall!
Faith - i've heard Monica is the nicest person around! I'm so jealous you got to meet her! She was in town for a new gym opening and I was out of town competing...argh...

BuffBlondie- Yes Monica Brant is so nice, for some reason I was so nervous- It's like you always see these fitness competitors in magazines and when you finally get to meet them it seems kinda weird. Anyways I also got the chance to meet Amy Fadhili when I was competing in California, she came out to watch with Tito Raymond! She was also very nice- another Texas Girl!!

Lorenzo, no offense, but putting up a picture of someone and telling us "This is the one you should all aspire to" just doesn't do it for me. Everyone has their own role models, and everyone is different. Yes, she looks great, but doesnt mean we should ALL want to aspire to be/look like her. As a woman, I'm tired of other people "telling" me who I should want to look like. Nothing personal, just one of those things Im getting tired of.

My favorite is Monica Brant. Not only is she nice, but she has the "total package"....looks, personality, and physique! She DEFINITELY lives what she preaches.

Also, I've talked w/ some other girls on several occasions. Some other favorites are Mandy Blank, Amy Fadhli, Debbie Kruck.

I've not talked w/ these girls, but I like DJ Wallis and Jenny Worth, too.

The Fitness world is blessed w/ lots of talented ladies!

Gotta add my .02 to this one. As I'm sure most of you know I'm a bit on the hardcore side. I'm also more of a strength athlete. I admire the bodybuilding ladies of the 80's. I think the look now is a bit too much but Corey, Tonya, Linda, Shelly, and the ladies from American Gladiators had the types of physiques I aspire to. Not as big and hard as the ladies on the Ms.O scene these days but bigger than the fitness ladies. All of us work hard and are 'sisters in iron', I guess as a person who has always been 'larger than life' from the git go, I identify more with the bodybuilders. Any way I can't smile and do a backflip at the same time. LOL

I like kinda in between...A little larger than the fitness competitors and not as large at the Pro bodybuilders. Old Sharon Bruneau pics and Corey in her prime.

As far as fitness goes, it's Monica hands down for the over all package. For womens BBing my all time favorite is by far Laura Creval (sp?) She just has the best look I've ever seen. Hard and dense without being overly massive. She still looks every bit like a women. If you have ever seen her not getting ready for a show she, has a knock-out body too.

Now, to turn the tables just a wee bit ladies, who do you all like out of the mens BBing arena?

My personal favorite is Gunther S. (I anit even going to try and spell his last name).
I got to do a clinic with both him and Chris Commier and was just flat out impressed with how Gunther responded to folks and took the time to answer any and all questions. He will be the next O at some point. Just going to take a while to put muscle on such a huge frame. Nasser is cool too - but only when he is getting ready for a show... good grief does he get fat! Nice person and all though.

I agree w/ you Lobo! I've seen Gunther a few times. He guest posed @ a local show here once. He's so nice. When he came out into the audience, I stood up to take his picture. He saw me & came right over & did a double bicep right in front of us. He was really smiling & seemed to enjoy what he was doing! What a cool pic that turned out to be! He seems like an all-around nice guy!

I feel that most of the male bodybuilders are too big, but as far as looks go, I think Jay Cutler is a cutie pie! Frank Sepe would be my other choice, he's built more for the modeling side of it.

My personal favorites, fitness: Monica and Mary Yockey (Met Mary and saw her guest pose - REALLY NICE and damn, she wasn't even REMOTELY breathing heavy after her performance!)
BB female: Rachel McClish (sp), I like her look, but in Pumping Iron II she came off like a real bitch (that's the word I'm going to use because I don't want to offend board members)! and Corey - just stunning!
BB male: the is only ONE ARNOLD - and my second fav guy is GUNTHER - I get weak in the knees just thinking about his bod! and I've heard from several people that he is as beautiful on the inside! and I met Tito R recently - handsome and a true gentleman.

Men...Well beside the obvious (ARNOLD) I like Sergio Oliva (sp?) and oh yea, Aaron Baker. I like all the ripped veiny mass but with a narrow little waist. I'm a sucker for big thick hammies too.

As far as the men go, I think Bob Paris had an awesome physique. Full sweeping muscle, tiny waist good definition, and one of the better posers. As for now I think Flex Wheeler has very nice sweep and lines. He's not always in his best shape and has made an attempt or two to add too much size too quickly and missed the mark on contest day. Can't hold it against him though. Met Kevin Leverone, very nice and pretty quiet and low key. Gotta add that the whole shaving of the heads is not my favorite option. Sometimes the contest line ups look like criminal line ups. I understand the whole anabolic hair loss connection and must say if it were me I'd probably do the same thing. I guess all the guys are starting to look the same at some shows. Oh well, life goes on.

Well, my fav male bodybuilder is Lee Priest...by far...the freaky mass on that short frame is just unbeliveble...

what about male fitness?? dont see much of that in mags and such..but its big here in Norway.
