How many of you are still sore when that bodypart rolls around again? I admit I have a very addictive personality and tend to overtrain a little--ok sometimes alot and have to really struggle not to become catabolic with my training/cardio etc. Sometimes even stretching it out to a single body part a day. What have ya'll done to combat this?

it happens to my but not too frequently. The best thing to do is change up your routine and cut yourself a little slack.

I used to experience this in the past (when I was overtraining). Now I train one body part once a week with three days of total rest that week. Mon,Tue,Wed-on, Thur-off, Fri-on, Sat and Sun-off. I also do my cardio 3 x's per week on training days. I've seen steady and substantial gains on this current regimen and I'm never soar by the time it comes to train that body part again. I don't know, works for me.

I never get as sore as I used to...I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that i'm taking L-glutamine like a madwoman, and i'm not lifting heavy all the time. I train each bodypart 1-2 times a week, depending on where I am in my precomp. schedule. I overtrain too! I totally understand the workout-obsession - it's hard for me not to workout everyday because i'm in the gym everyday...being a personal trainer. I now take 2 rest days a week, one of which was today, and I feel tons better and i'm seeing better results! I tend to hold bodyfat when I overtrain.

I lifted leggs last thursday and was still sore on tuesday. But it was that good soreness. You know the feeling, is this feeling good or bad, I guess I always thought it was good.

Quite possible. My boss' wife is now pregnant with her second child at 5%. I wouldn't want to be there though. Too lean for my taste, but I think that the body adjusts.

I worked out at the same gym as some BIG NAME competitors and those chicks weren't even five. Debbie Kruck at the time was I think around 8% and she looked shredded. I can't for the life of me imagine what 5% looks like...Just thinking out loud here.

Post a pic, please.

Different people will appear more cut at different levels of body fat, anyway. And unless it's professionally done, it's pretty inaccurate and should only be used to measure progress, rather than compare yourself to others.

Once upon a time I was "Mr. Overtrain." I found the TREMENDOUS improvements I made just by cutting back everything by 1/3 then later by 1/2. Number of sets and days in the gym that is. Actually its scientifically valid as to why these improvements took place. Go to www.cyberpump.com, click on to "training" then click on to "HIT version 3.0" It will make one hell of a difference!

There is a fine line in traing to much and not enough,I'd listen to what your body say,s.If you have a tendency to over train like most of us usually do,your only hindering your progress.Try to go do something you enjoy, hobbies, shopping what ever. That fine line i was talking about is the key to great success in our sport.See Ya

I'm finding that training less frequently really allows me to train harder. It makes me feel a hell of alot better and it's curing my obsessiveness, if thats good???
I know I can get good results if I concentrate harder when I work out.

I'm sorry I did not reply friday about the questions on my post but I am only on here durring work so the time I can spend here is limited.
I'm sorry I caused so much discussion on some one elses question, I'm sorry riptchick.

The stats were correct on the BF according to the trainer at my gym 3 months ago. He even took the measurements 3 times to be sure (at some 6 or 8 sites). He did say they could be off some 2 or 3 % in both directions.
I have always been skinny & lean all my life. It was hored in grade school & high school. I didn't have dates in high school, I had to ask out my prom date, that was embarising.
I am 6 foot tall and weigh 190+ now. I put on about 5 pounds of mass in the past mounth or two. My defination has always been out standing, The members of my gym are always complementing me. It makes me feel good about my self, and gives me self confidence.
I'm not a trainer or model or fitness athlete, not saying I would not want to be but I don't think I have the look these type of individuals have. I don't have any pictures to show since I never thought to take any, but maybe in the future I could get some.

Once again my appoligie to riptchick for this discussion on here post.

Shit, don't apologize this is a discussion board. We get off topic all the time and that's the fun of it! We have a kickass moderator who keeps things in check and filters out the crap so we can go on blabbering like the musclely little chicks that we are. Glad you could join in.

This makes you think......yes, I have a tendency to be sore the next time the bodypart roles around, also. I've heard from several people that if this occurs, I shouldn't work that bodypart. I should train something else and let it recover.

Bigirl, 6 ft. tall? Gosh, I always wanted to be tall as I'm 5'3". I do like to wear "chunky" shoes to make me taller! Since you said you were 5% BF, I was curious.....has it been a while since you had a menstral cycle? When I competed in my last show I was close to 10% and had quit my cycle. I'm still not quite back on schedule and that was 3 mos. ago. Just curious....

Well fitness I am very regular, but I have missed 2 in a row several times, not in the same year. I guess I miss on an average between 2-3 a year. My gyno said it was due to my low BF and fitness habits, he said it was pritty common for some one like me. He doesn't like it but he knows where I'm comming from.

I am going to try and get my BF measured again. The 5% was 3 months ago and the trainer could have been wrong according to several on the board. Now that everyone says its not possible for me to be 5% I am curious to test it again.

I agree w/ you Bigirl. My doctor doesn't like it, either. I think he's accepted that this is the way I want to look/feel/be and so he doesn't question it. He knows I'm in really good health and my BF doesn't go below 10% unless I'm doing a show. I was curious because even on the pill, I'm still having weird cycles (which we've discussed). Thanks!
