Thought you might find this interesting and some of you may be able to explain why it works this way. A week or so ago I read a post that had to do with sugar cravings and I think it was MS that mentioned that it could have something to do with low seratonin levels. Several years ago I suffered from depression and still have quite a supply of prozac on hand. I was having a terrible time with the no sugar part of the diet so I got out my bottle and started taking it again - guess what - NO Desire for sugar at all, also am experiencing pretty rapid weight loss. I remember that when I took it for depression that I lost over 20# and my doctor told me that this happened with most of the people that he put on it and that it could in the future be used as an obesity treatment. Do any of you know anything about this? I have lost 5# in 7 days which has me a little concerned - that is a big drop for someone who has lost at an average rate of 1.7# per week since the first of Jan. I have not seen a decrease in strength and according to the calipers it looks like about a 2% drop in bfp but I am not exactly what you would call competant with the calipers. I am very concerned that with this big of loss that some of it might be muscle ( who would have ever thought that I would see the day when a 5# drop would have me freaking out instead of dancing on the table) I have also implemented all of the advice you guys gave me and am eating, supplementing and training exactly the way that you told me to. Any comments??? IP: Logged |

Oh yeah baby. Prozac is 'da bomb' for people that have disruption to normal serotonin function. Prozac gets a lot a bad press sometimes, but if your body is outta balance and it helps...... The weight loss could well be the result of eating less sugary carbs. Not only is it less (fattening) calories ingested, but also less fluid to hold. 5 lbs in a week is almost guaranteed to be mostly water weight so don't worry. But if you continue to lose at that rate, then worry! Sounds like you're ready to really kick your fat-loss efforts into high. And what the wolf said is the best advice. Good luck. IP: Logged |
