Induction Diets, where you can only have 20g of carbs every day for 14 days? If so can you post how miserable you were on it, or any other input. IP: Logged |

Don't even tell me your considering it.NONE of those diets work because you can't maintain them here's why... 1.Your brain can only use complex carbs for fuel.Your seretonin levels get all out of wack and you get depressed, moody, easily irritated. 2. The second you go back to eating normal you bloat back up. 3. NO energy, you're bodies glygocen stored get depleted. 4. It goes against the collective teachings of the Elite Fitness womens forum.

I tried it. Its not very much fun. Your cranky and bitchy and you get tired from doing the smallest things. It works pretty good though for cutting out the fat, but I would just stick to a good clean diet if I were you. IP: Logged |

Geez, I could hear sternness in your voice there! I just was thinking of trying it with my training to lose this little bit of fat I have left on me. Since I upped my cardio to 60 mins, WOW! What a difference. I can finally see some changes, cause now I am cutting the hell out of my legs when I shave right now, damn knee bones sticking out, and so are my hip bones. I am ready to file those suckers right off. Anyhow, I figured that one of these diets would get rid of the last bit of fat on me. I need to have my bf% done again, cause I know it had to of dropped some. Thanks for your .02! IP: Logged |

What? I thought eating low carbs everyday was ok. I do it during the week and then have free days on Saturday and Sunday where i allow carbs. Am i wrong? I probably consume less than 50 g of carbs a day. usually it comes from my oatmeal in the a.m. and the few i get from shakes. I really have to watch my pasta, bread intake because of my body type. Being part italian, i could eat pasta every day of the week but it all goes straight to the ass, hips, and thighs. Like someone told me in the past when i was eating a piece of cake - "save the trip and just smear it on your hips" ha! I am usually a little tired especially if i'm not taking diet fuel or something similar. Is this all wrong? I just can't allow myself to eat starches everyday. Dlady - you said your seeing more cuts in your legs since dong more cardio. I'm trying to accomplish the same thing. (leg definition) I just up'ed my cardio, but only a few days ago. My ? is how long have you been doing 60 minutes? AM or PM? [This message has been edited by missgalaxy (edited July 07, 2000).] IP: Logged |

I do the treadmill, and EFX trainer 60 mins. every other AM, and I alternate the 2 machines , plus do 10 mins of cardio after I do any weights. I think that is what helped. I sweat like a whore in church now!! My whole shirt or sport bra ends up soaked. IP: Logged |

Trend diets are just that ... a trend. Ignore them. Keep your diet balanced. Your progress may be slower, but at least it will be SOLID progress. Not only are low carb diets dangerous for the inexperienced, they also cause bad breath! ------------------ IP: Logged |

Who could live on 20G of carbs a day? ..and why would you want to? You do some whacked things the few days before a competition but it's only for the show - then you go back to being normal. Get it - short term. Build mass and you will see LONG TERM gains. IP: Logged |

This low a level of carbs puts you into ketosis, am I right? Isn't ketosis unfavorable for muscle-building and maintanance? I have tried low-carb and it does work, but I honestly believe it's impossible to stick with it for the long term. I mean, who wants to eat fried pork skins and cream cheese all day long? One of my clients did it a few years ago, and lost 100 pounds in a year, but she has all this excess skin from the rapid loss. She told me that if you slip out of ketosis, you're supposed to eat nothing but macadamia nuts and cream cheese for that day... Makes my stomach turn just thinking about all that fat... ------------------ IP: Logged |

I JUST WANT TO RID MYSELF OF THIS FAT, YOU'RE THE ONES THAT SAID "NO POINT IN BUILDING MUSCLE UNDER FAT, CAUSE YOU WON'T SEE IT" THIS IS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT I WANT THE LAST BIT OF FAT GONE. There is a body state I call the "point of Diminishing returns" which means that getting rid of that last bit of fat may is not worth the price in muscle you will lose, Unless it is for a show I would not bother at this stage of your training with getting every ounce of body fat off yourself. You should really cut back on the cardio you're really trying to rush what can't be hurried. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I think this is a great thread....Just thought that I might add that the lower body fat that most women carry has been a real pain in my butt for a while(no pun intended)so this is something that I have worked on. I also agree with Iron God about sacrificing the muscle for the last of the fat. Muscle growth is KEY for long term success. What has made a big difference for me has been working on my Intensity in the gym. You would be so surprised how much this has helped me. Doing everything to TOTAL FAILURE. Making each rep or each set mean something in terms of muscle growth. Not taking a shitload of time between sets, making the mind muscle connection and staying focused. I get really great pumps now and can see and feel a tremendous difference. IP: Logged |

I agree with what has been said ...stop focusing so much on getting rid of every last bit of fat. In March at 18%bf I looked like a total roley-poley. But I kept busting my butt and eating right. Lo and behold by May I had made some quality gains. It is now July and am about 18%bf and I am roley-poley no longer! True I am not as defined as I was but as I have started "dieting" (want to compete in Oct) the definition will return - only this time I have MORE MASS!! How cool! Now my goal is to put enough mass on my upper body so that I will be in better proportion in the off-season. Translation - I want my shoulders and arms to match my big ole ghetto-bootie! Give it time. You'll get there I promise! IP: Logged |
