![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Alot of you seem to recommend severely restricting carbs when trying to lose fat. I have tried this and end up feeling like shit after just a couple of days. Also does a persons body who trains hard respond differently to this than someone who doesn't train at all? I have seen alot of women who have done the Atkins thing with no weight training and they have lost tons of weight (much of it muscle I suspect) and they end up looking sick then when they go back to eating any carbs at all they get fatter than fat can be in record time. ![]() ![]() ![]() I did Dan Duchane's Body Opus.. worked quite well. You can buy his book online. Also another good book is "The Ketogenic Diet" by Lyle MCDonald. I went on Body Opus and got really strong really fast, but felt "greasy" all the time. Didn't lose many pounds, but I could lift more than ever. Put a friend of mine on Body Opus with me and she would cheat a little with her carbs and gained 5 pounds in a week, so beware, if youre going to do it, do it by the book. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ketogenic diets do not suit everybody. If you've got a lot of fat to lose and lead a sedentary lifestyle they seem to work better. Some bodybuilders find the cyclical ketogenic diet effective, but more bodybuilders still use the old fashioned medium carb, high protein approach with good success. Rebound weight-gain is a problem with keto diets. But if you cycle your carbs like on the Body Opus/Lyle McD plan you can keep your thyroid and metabolism from switching off completely. The only way you can know if it works for you is to try it. But be aware of dramatic weight-loss in the first few weeks. This is mostly water/glycogen loss, not fat, so you need to go 4-6 weeks to know if the fat is melting off. And that 'greasy' feeling is not pleasant to live with. ------------------ IP: Logged |
