Hi all. This is my first posting, so please bear with me if I start to ramble. When I read many of the posts that seem to answer my questions, I feel like some of you must be genetically gifted, blessed with exceptional metabolisms. I am a 22yr old f, 5'6" 127# 11-15% bf. I hate my body! My upper-body is too small, and my legs are too big. I have a lot of extra skin on my tris right above my elbows and also on my inner thighs. My calves have very little definition, and I even have some cellulite on my ass and upper thighs. It really bothers me! I eat about 1800-1900cal/day and I work out w/ weights 4-5/week. I also put in 4 or 5 cardio sessions (30-40min each). I'm not one of those girls who only lifts 10lb dumbells for fear of getting manly. I workout w/ my boyfriend (not a bb, but a hardworker no less) and he really pushes me. I would like to improve my overall physique (more musculature, less fat, six-pack, etc.) but I can't. I would really prefer to do it w/o steroids, but I am willing to try anything at this point. My number one concern w/ steroids is my menstrual cycle. You see, just a few years ago (about 5 now) I weighed somewhere b/w 175-180lbs. About 2yrs ago, I was all the way down to 105lbs. Nice extremes huh? It takes all I can to eat as much as I do and when I read 3000-4000cal/day I think no way! I also have trouble making myself eat when I see cellulite in my legs. Please help w/ any advice!! Welcome to the board. So what are you eating to get those 1800-1900 cals? And how often? If I read your post correctly (and correct me if I didn't) part of the problem may be to do with your body self-image. That may be something we can't help you with. I can't stand my body either, for many of the same reasons you state, but people around me including judges when I'm on a BB stage think it's great. So I just wonder how many other people tell you that you look the way you feel? Your current height and weight don't make you sound overweight by any stretch of the imagination, but if you have been overweight before then you will have some spare skin. At your age this will certainly go away with time (as long as you don't blow-up again). I get around my 'body-image' problem by staying completely away from mirrors and wearing long tracksuits and baggy T-shirts. Out of sight, out of mind. I'm out of time for now, but I hope we can have lots of input from everyone else on this board on this post. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Thanks MS. To expand on your thoughts w/ hope of further input from others. I get my calories from a high protein low fat diet that includes protein bars, mrp drinks, etc. I definitely view myself more harshly than others would, but I'm not imagining the cellulite. When you say the extra skin will go away, what is the time frame? (I definitely won't blow up again!) I really want more muscle, but I'm deathly afraid of getting fat. Also, I've read countles times that you can't spot lose. Is this true? If so, how can I improve my tri's and inner thighs? Thanks again in advance to everyone who chimes in. IP: Logged |

You really need to change the way you perceive yourself, if you don't have the proper mental outlook your going to fail. Your stats say 5'6 127 11% to 15% BF for a women is not fat.. You can't be afraid to experiment with your body for fear of getting fat it's part of body building process no body gets the calorie intake down perfect I always gain fat in order to put on muscle not saying everyone does but my metabolism changes weekly I would rather error on the caloric positive side than negative. Remember your can only do one at a time gain muscle or lose fat to do both at the same time is virtually impossible. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Spot reduction is not really effective. The best exercises you can do are the same no matter what you're looking to improve. Squats, lunges, hack squats, dead lifts etc... for the inner thighs, Bench and shoulder presses, dips etc... for the triceps. Don't neglect chins, rows and other compound back exercises for a balanced physique. Adding muscle to your frame while doing moderate cardio will help to 'fill out' your extra skin while reducing excess subcutaneous fat (in conjunction with a clean diet). You'll look and feel better. But it won't happen overnight.... Best of luck to you, and keep asking questions and sharing experiences with us. IP: Logged |
