Ladies, I need to know if this is natural...

I was at the gym on Saturday and had a terrific work out, I was sore most of the aternoon, but now most of the pain is gone except for in my joints, my elbows are very sore, is this how they're suppose to feel or did I lift too much of a heavy weight.
I have been lifting a heavy weight with less reps for the past week and nothing hurt like this until yesterday. Can any of you explain why my elbows and knees are so sore?

It sounds like you may have lifted too heavy. There's always a risk of it when you suddenly change you training program. I think a visit to the doc is a good idea so you can find out if it is the joint itself, or the surrounding tendons and ligaments. Often with heavy lifting it's the soft tissue (tendons and ligaments) that are affected. Unfortunately these tissues take longer to strengthen than the muscles around them, so you may have to go more slowly with your weight increases.

I'm with MS all the way here, but against my better judgement will recruit your best judgement. When I go unusually heavy, my knees typically have a few things to say. Stretching helps. Although stretching would not be a good thing if you have tissue dammage. You have to be able to tell what kind of pain it is and I know that sometimes it can be a very fine line.

I would expect some type of soreness from the change in workout. I assume this is the first time you have had these types of joint pain? If it is, then I don't think this is really a bad thing as you may just be experiencing the "normal" aches associated with "Going Heavy". Ligaments and tendons do take MUCH longer to strengthen. And often need at least a week to recover - as best. You may have contributed to this situation by slightly over training - I can't remember, are you "on"? If so, then I know from personal experience that I can sometimes lift a bit to hard and can tell the next day as my joints will be sore. Or, if I lift two days in row. (I never do unless I'm on) Which is why I use deca, but that�s another post....

Lobo, No I am not "on", too early for me, I am new at this, only been lifting for about a month. I think that MS is right to say that the weights were a bit too heavy, the sorness is gone today(tues.) Just to be safe I did my legs today to make sure the muscles are healed in my arms, which I will do on Weds. Thanks for the help!
